midiman56 Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Hey ... Got a spare $1000 lying around that you don't know what to do with? Hallmark Guitars is intriducing a line of George Barris themed guitars! You remember George Barris, don't you? He was the auto customizer responsible for the original Batmoble, the Munster's Coach and Grandpa Munster's Dragula. The Green Hornet's Black Beauty as well as more mundane cars like the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard. Any hoo ... say hello to the Batwing! This guitar really appeals to the 60's kid that I still am in many ways ... See Grandpa's Dragula and hear some cool surf guitar music at: http://www.hallmarkguitars.com/Barris/default.html Atomic batteries to power ... turbines to speed ... Jim
Red 333 Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Holy lustful object of luthery, Batman. W O W ! I must have that. I don't even care if you can play it. THANKS for posting the link!
pohatu771 Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 P-90 in a mounting ring? That's odd. I like it, though.
wedgeSG Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 There's a shot of him holding one on the HallmarkGuitars site Wedgie
Swoop Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Nope, this is the coolest guitar ever. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Music-instruments/Instruments/Guitar-bass/Electric-guitars/auction-219800732.htm Or maybe a cigar box guitar
midiman56 Posted May 23, 2009 Author Posted May 23, 2009 That crate guitar is sort of what I envisioned Elleon's Epi Les Paul would look like after he removed the ebony paint! JIm
RotcanX Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Holy Warbeast, Batman, looks like some kind of B.C. Rich product!
z-clay Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Very nice but......I still think my guitar is "the coolest guitar ever".
RaSTuS Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Drooool, it's really frustrating seeing all these great guitars when I got no money, when I get rich enough to splash out they'll all disappear with my luck. Until I saw your find Jim, I used to think these were pretty sharp, talk about a carved top; http://www.hembryguitars.com/home.htm
midiman56 Posted May 23, 2009 Author Posted May 23, 2009 Wow, Rastus ... some of those are downright SCAREY!!! They remind me of the Necronomicon in the Evil Dead movies. I'd be afraid of the damn thing trying to take a bite out of me when I went to strum it!!! JIm
RaSTuS Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 LOL, yeah the guy who carves them must be a twisted soul, he does do good work though. BTW; which state is WA? Edit; Washington
midiman56 Posted May 23, 2009 Author Posted May 23, 2009 That would be Washington State. Extreme northwest of the country ... just below Canada.
RaSTuS Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Hope my money comes soon, in time for your summer otherwise I'll have to wait another year. Plan on going on a spree.
EL-KABONG! Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 I would like these better if they didn't look like they were flying/driving backwards :) Some clarification in order: The pickup is a hallmark not a p90. The hallmarks are based on Mosrite single coils (with needed improvements) The 60's custom hallmark (mosrite clone) is BAD-A$$ http://hallmarkguitars.com/
midiman56 Posted May 25, 2009 Author Posted May 25, 2009 I had the opportunity to play one of the Hallmark "Swept Wing" models at Cowtown Guitas here in Vegas. I liked it! It really had the vibe to take me back to the late 60's/early 70's style of guitar ... only it was very well put together and not the POS's we were playing back then. That Deke Dickerson model is also very cool, in a "singing cowboy" kind of way. It's fun to see a what a few companies like Hallmark, Eastwood and DiPinto are doing. Jim
RSDx Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 How's about this one ????? Granted, it's a bass .... Ahhhhh, the 70's :-
midiman56 Posted May 25, 2009 Author Posted May 25, 2009 How's about this one ????? Granted' date=' it's a bass .... [img']http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj74/lazmail2/DAN.jpg[/img] Ahhhhh, the 70's :- Is that Dan Hartman? Man I liked his music way back in the day. Great work with the Edgar Winter Group snd some terrific solo work and writing for the "Streets of Fire" soundtrack. He also wrote "Living in America" for Rocky V and produced many hit albums for other artists. He died from a brain tymor in 1994. Now I'm going to listen to "Free Ride" and play along. Jim
