Epiphone cases

I'm looking for a new Epiphone brand case for my LP but can't find one in stock anywhere in Europe. Does anybody know who might have a new one?

I'm wondering whether all stocks are being sidelined for the new top of the range limited editions such as the 1959.

Furthermore, there seems to be limited supplies of other Epi cases too such as SG, 335 style, 'Kat etc...

I doubt stocks are being deliberately held up for any reason. Epi are just erratic at supplying cases, always have been in my experience. It was a problem in 2005 when I bought my Kat. I had to wait about 3 months after the Kat arrived to get the Kat case. I was carrying the thing in its cardboard box to its first gigs!

Worth the wait though. Just place an order with your shop. It will arrive eventually.

I'm curious why it has to be an Epiphone case. Not that they're bad cases ... just your standard wood framed, Tolex covered variety. They do have Epiphone stenciled on them.

For a buck or two more you can get readily available (at least in the US) SKB or Gator cases that will fit your Les Paul perfectly and provide unbeatable protection for your instrument.

Not trying to be a jerk here ... just offering some options. Good luck!

Speaking of cases, Jim...can you find me a "lennon" case...actually the same company

that makes them, but without the "lennon" logo, etc. My AIUSA Sheraton was supposed

to HAVE one of those, with the more form fitting headstock shape, etc. But, I couldn't

convice MF, that they needed to get me the right case...(seems they shipped those guitars

with and without a case...and you never knew which you'd get)....so, I bought a TKL standard

335 type case for it. BUT...I'd still like to get the correct one...if at all possible?

Sorry, CB ...

All we seem to carry is the standard Epiphone 335 case. We sell that with all of the Epi semi's and narrow hollows ... Sheritons, Dots and Casinos all fit in that case just fine. Guitar Center owns MF, so I guess I'm not surprised at the outcome of that one. [blink]

The Epi case is $89 ... so like you, I'd opt fpr the SKB every time!

BKitten, 3 months, WOW!!!!! how did you manage to get it that quick??

I'm still waiting for the case for my Jack Casady and i ordered that in June!!! and I'm still gigging out of a box.

unfortunatly the only case that fits is an epi case so i just have t grin and bear it,[blink]

Hahaha dunno, just lucky I guess. Maybe living in Australia helps because it's closer to where they make the cases? I have no idea to be hoenst.

The OP is lucky cos he's buying a Les Paul, getting a hard case for a LP should be easy, no reason why it has to be an Epi one. On the other hand all those weird-shaped guitars that Epi do, you usually need a special case for, rectangular "one size fits all" cases don't cut it.

I have to say... That I agree with Jim, I ordered a Gator Case for my Dot and I can't praise it enough, it's the business and all for £69 notes too!

Again, If I wanted the official Epiphone case I'd have to wait an unlimited amount of time, whereby the Gator was here in three days! Can't complain at that, in fact I'm thinking of getting one for the Sheraton as the one supplied is a little dog eared but only when funds are allowed....

I have the SKB ATA case and it's solid. The only problem I've had with it is the little strap that holds the lid and keeps it from trying to fall back has come unglued twice. I've superglued it back in place each time. I think that they should rivet that in place or change it to a hinged metal support. Other than that, it's a top notch case.

I understand that the Gator cases are also good.

I have an Epi 335 case for my Sheraton and wanted to get one for my Dot a while back. The case was on order for like 4-5 months. The store finally told me they had no idea when it would be coming in, so I got a Gator hard case. I only say this to say that my Shearton will not fit in it, the case is too short. So, I keep my Sheri in my Epi case and my Dot in the Gator case. It is even a little snug for my Dot. I needed to do some customizing to it too. The neck was angled up a little to much for my liking, so I bought some foam and black felt at Joann's, the guitar now fits in the case like a glove. I do like the Gator case, I have a few. They also have great customer service.

We must be lucky in the nordic countries in Uppsala they got an Epiphone case for my Joe Pass it only took 3 days.

I actually keep my Levin in that case as I could find any other case to fit it.

I need a case for my E-by-G Sheraton, I am weighing up whether to pay

1101sek $150 for an 335 Epiphone case

http://www.musikborsen.se/itempg.aspx?id=744545&artno=134315

or

629sek $86 to go for a Gator 335 PVC case

http://www.thomann.de/se/gator_gc335_guitar_pvc_case.htm

my other Sheraton came in one of these

497sek $68 to go for Thomann ESGITCASE

http://www.thomann.de/se/thomann_es_git_case.htm

it is fine might even get another one of these Thomann's

at least I know the Thomann ESGITCASE will fit my E-by-G Sherri and for less than half the price of the Epiphone case.

Today I got me a new Case for the Lucille,

a Gator 335-case from thomann

So Peter,

jcwillow77 says his Gator 335 case was too short for his Sheraton, is the Lucille shorter than the Sheraton....?

The Gator would be my choice but if it don't fit a Sheraton........will have to be a Thomann.

Epi cases here in Oz have risen to $169 AUD which is bloody extortion in my view. I paid just $59 USD from Rondo for the last case which was for an LP style guitar and it's a better case than the Epis I've got, all for about $80 AUD landed.

Hi Jim,

I don't need an airline proof case as such but I have searched various boards for posts about alternative brand cases. A recurring theme seems to be one of them not fitting properly, particularly Gator.

I also need a case for my Gibson SG faded and I thought about getting an Epi SG case for it, as Gibson prices are extortionate. The indications are that even they don't fit the Gibson SG snugly. I don't like the idea of a brand mismatch anyway (either way round).

SKB seem a good option but they are nearly double the price of an Epiphone case here in the UK.

My preference is probably an Epi case for my Epi LP and an SKB case for my Gibson SG. If I order them together it will keep postage costs down too.

I'd wager that the Les Paul style is Epi's #1 seller. It just seems crazy that you can't get a case for it.

AS90,

I'd looked at those TKLs but they don't indicate which guitar they are for. I hear the ones you get in the US (from Canada) are brand specific too.

When I was looking around at cases I found these plexiglass flight cases.....3900sek $532 each [biggrin]

That is a fair bit more than the average price I paid for each of my 4 guitars....:-k

But my, my, wouldn't it be nice to have each of my guitars in one of those, so I could still ogle it while it was sitting snug and safe [cool]

I bought my Wildkat in November,2009 from SWEETWATER, and just got my case on Tuesday Jan,26th. Kinda fits tighter than I would like, but that is with the strap on the guitar. Funny thing, when I opened it, it smells like kerosene inside. Made in China. What are they doing over there?

Anyone know what the smell relates to in construction. Type of adhesive? The key that came with it for the lock is just a punched out piece of crap. It works though.

The last two LP cases I got from Sweetwater were like that. I sent the first one back and kept the second one. It still smells, though not so much now, and I have used countless items to get rid of the smell. Not to mention just leaving the case open outside in the summer on very hot days. None of my other Epi cases had that smell. They are nice cases, but the odor is terrible.

It's got to be some component in the glue that they secure the lining in with. There's the same smell in some of the chinese tools that I've bought. It goes away over time. Airing it out can't hurt. You might try a little spray of Ozium. It works to get smells out of car interiors. I don't know if it affects guitar finishes, though. Probably not if you let it dry first and expose it to fresh air for a while.

How is this for a conspiracy theory.

A devious Epiphone plan, to impregnate cases with a slow releasing gas that induces GAS attacks in its victims, thereby stimulating profits......

Everyone of the the Man from U.N.C.L.E era, will know that this sort of thing was pretty common on 1960's television series......[cool]
