You have good taste. I love your Gretsch Duane Eddy

Thanks Doc, it really is one phenomenal guitar. It is actually a Chet Atkins guitar and is called the 1957 6120 Chet. Gretsch just released an Eddie Cochran Sig Custom Shop model which is very similar for a lot more money. Here are some additional images of mine:

lol just dont tell the either gretsch forum im on the other one or here... dun dun dun lol

Oh crap [biggrin]

there i go i mixed up Duane Eddy and Eddie Cochrane again, you have a Cochrane spec'ed gretsch. God i feel retarded now. Its that Eddy name that i always confuse with Eddie.

On the site they never specifically call it the Cochrane Gretsch but with the dog eared p90, the "C'mon Everybody" reference and the mention of rock and roll founding father. We all know who Gretsch is talking about [biggrin]

this is before they got the permission from the estate of Eddy to put out a sig :-$

then they got permission and its a custom shop ridiculously priced model.

You have my girlfriend's dream guitar. If i dont let her look over my should she'll never know i was looking at it lol

I too love the P90 sound. I think it is the best sounding pickup made. Sure there is a little hum, but you can only hear that when the music isn't playing.

My modded ESP has one pickup RPRW so when both pickups are selected, they become a giant humbucker. I can really hear the difference in both attack and clarity between when either pup is chosen or when both are on. The "bucker" mode sounds duller by comparison. (GFS Mean 90s)

And with the Varitone on my ESP, I can thin the sound to give it a "Fender-ish" tone.

You wanted pix, I'm happy to post 'em.

Haha shes just learning, at this point. I teach her some ole' rockabilly licks. I think her plan is to save up a pay check for a Epiphone WildKat in either Surf Green or Orange. Then when she feels like she deserves it blow her saved dough on the 6120. Shes had like 2k untouched in the bank for the day that she buys the guitar. Her dream guitar is the exact model you have G6120W-1957, i sh** you not. Thats the only one she'll buy not the Setzer versions or the RHH model or a standard 6120. Its G6120W-1957 or bust [-( lol

that L5 is on my list too. Or a Super 400, or a Brydland. So beautiful

And' date=' I will be purchasing one of these this week.

One of my guitar students has one of these. Exact same model, same colour etc. It's not a bad instrument at all actually as long as you don't mind the Tele feel, the instrument gets a bit more brightness out of the P-90 than what you would normally hear. Definitely a good thing.

I also am not a Beatles fan' date=' and also love my black cat.

you have some nice flame on that Kat, any brighter pics?[/quote']

Not really. The flame on mine is actually really subtle, so much so that I didn't even realise it had a flame when I first got it. I had to get real close with a flash and a lot of light just to get the flame to look the way it did in that photo.

Here it is up against some other electrics so you can see just how muted the flame really is:

From some angles you can't even see the flame at all:

Interesting. I don't mind the 'Tele feel'. I can play just about any guitar comfortably. I have a Casino, Les Paul, SG, and Strat, and have had a Tele in the past, so I'm used to guitars of all shapes and sizes, since all of mine feel completely unlike one another.

Brightness is good, should sound excellent through my little Laney, I was commenting in a recent thread about getting a great rockabilly tone plugging the Laney into the 4 10" speakers in my Peavey. The Laney doesn't have a lot of EQ adjustment, just a tone control, so it can be a little tricky to get it to sound good with all guitars, it's a little dark at times.

Thursday is the day, hopefully, that I shall have it!
