Not sure any suggestions?

I've actually settled on Ric strings. I tried D'addario, Thomastik Infeld, and Pyramids. The D'addario had intonation issues on the "G", they have plain gauge G strings (the Ric set has a wound 20 for the G). The Pyramids really had the McGuinn sound, but are just outragously expensive ($42/set +/-), also you may have to recut the nut for the A and D strings - they're heavier than the Ric strings. The worst thing about the Rics is you can't find them discounted since the only place to get them is the Ric website at $20/set. The TIs are nice too, but you have to custom build the set - I haven't found an electric 12 string set. Ernie Ball makes a 12 string set with a wound G but I haven't tried them yet.

BTW, Ric strap buttons are made by Schaller so if you use Schaller straplocks you won't have to change the buttons.

Pick of the Ricks also carries a couple of different Curt Mangan 12 sets - nickel set $11.95, and a coated nickel set $15.95 - http://www.pickofthericks.com/categories/Strings/

If you're having intonation problems, you can get a Ric 12 saddle bridge - http://www.pickofthericks.com/products/Rickenbacker12-Saddle-Guitar-Bridge-00821.html

Thanks guys appreciate the advise. I'll have to check em out.

It is one beautiful guitar and I hate buying without playing first but they seem to be rare around my neck of the woods.

I had read were it changes the way you play because of the thin neck and 12 strings but I'm quickly adapting to it and after a couple hours Its getting a lot more comfortable.
