Stickers

I see this with cell phones all the time, people leave the factory packing plastic on their devices, and small dust and dirt particles get underneath the plastic, and pressure causes it to press against the screen making swirls and spirals on the screen that don't come off. It's horrible especially when people have the expectation that the packing plastic actually protects it (it doesn't).

Nice Tele Rocky...

I don't mind people adding stickers to their guitars if they want to. That's their choice, though at 61 years old, it's not much of a habit I see practiced in my age group. Just a generational thing I guess. I thought they were referring to the stockers that come on our guitars... Made in USA, Inspected by #47... that sort of thing.

When I first moved back to Miami from 6 years living in Jamaica, I bought a terrible car, a Ford Fairmont. My Jamaican father-in-law used to tease me in a good natured way about how bad American auto makers had become. (His family owned the Toyota dealership for Jamaica) One day, I noticed a little plaque on the door jam that said the car was made in Canada, A MEMBER OF THE BRITISH COMMONWEALTH, JUST LIKE JAMAICA!!!!!!

I don't think we've laughed so hard at anything since then.

I know around the middle of the week, I'm going to receive a hell of a good guitar. I had been thinking about an Epi LP, not that they are bad by any means, but I feel good that I bought the Gibson LP instead. We don' need no steeekin' steeekers! :-({|=

FOR GUITAREST; Overheard at the courthouse the other day, " I, Ban Ez, do solomly swear to shred. "dry.gif

FOR DENNISMILLER; Gibson Studio Les Pauls don't come with stickers, it's not cost effective. If you want stickers on a Les Paul, you gotta pay $1200.00 or more to get official stickers on a Les Paul. You could put bootleg stickers on your Studio, but that wouldn't be authentic, and it's value would drop.

I'm not a fan of stickers, not in guitars, not in cars, not in anything. But that's what I like, some people (you included) might like something else, I have a friend who has stickers on every guitar he owns, one of them is so bad you cannot see the original finish anymore, and that's his favorite guitar.

BUT, if you got yourself a brand new gibson, you should leave the pickup stickers on, they are responsible for 50% of the pickup tone and they give instant mojo. [woot]

Remove all factory stickers, pickguards (they hide the beautiful arch top), all plastic protective film, any unused volume or tone knob's, move switshes to where they best suit you.

Do apply the stickers or artwork of your choosing. Where you see fit.

OH, Don,t forget to remove those funny looking pickup shielding covers and expose those coils.

Rocky - I'd say it looks a heck of a lot better than "not bad"... I've done some guitar finishing in a spray booth we used to have at our furniture business and even with professional equipment and years of learning technique, it's still nothing to be thought of as easy. Great job...

As for stickers on guitars, I may have to rethink my position. Considering my age, I could get stickers for Viagra and the AARP... How would THAT be?
