I guess it is all relative my mum is 13 years older than you!

Being in your 70's even is nothing these days and my mum and dad jet around all over the place on non stop holidays to the US, Spain, France as well as China and India. My dad even bought them a nintendo Wii for X mas too.

Also I have been teaching a student who is 81 and has got to grade three on the classical guitar in less than a year. He said to me "I have never got out of bed and thought what shall I do to fill the time in today, there has always been something i have been keen to work on"

He is a very inspiring man with a great out look that frankly has inspired me this last year msp_thumbup.gif

So lets all seize the day and toast to sticking a finger up to age and behaving how we think we should, and enjoying 2011! Happy Christmas and a happy new year to you all xxx

They just started selling them in the U.S. in JAN. of this year. I'd like to get one of their Electric's, but they only sell them in the Uk and Europe right now. I talked to the company I bought the 12 string from and was told I had to hook up withe a dealer from over there to get one. So unless I come up with a dealer I'll just have to wait.

Matt...

You're absolutely right about ignoring a degree of age as "a number."

Heavens, Steven is 55 - what once was considered "half dead" - and is celebrating all sorts of good stuff - not the least of which is a guitar. <grin>

If any thing, I think I'm detecting a bit of recognition among younger people compared to myself in youth that 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 may have some wrinkles, but may be as creative as they think themselves to be.

"We" didn't think that way, I think. My grandmother wore her "house dress" and sunbonnet and "old lady shoes" when I was a kid and teen. At the time, and I'm not sure I'm entirely wrong, except for her offspring I think she figured she'd done her life by age 70 or so and was just awaiting the inevitable. Nowadays she'd be wearing sweats and sneakers like many of the other ladies I know who range into their 90s. Dum vivimus, vivamus!

Interesting era nowadays. When I stop learning and enjoying it, I hope I'm off immediately to study grass from the root side. And I'd have said that at 20 as well.
