surfpup Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Surfpup- check out bluegrass core. ... Really? This actually exists? I thought I was making crap up. Figures someone actually plays it.
Silenced Fred Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 Really? This actually exists? I thought I was making crap up. Figures someone actually plays it. I joked with my friend who bought a banjo that we should start a metal band with distorted banjo, he said it was real. Looked it up on the tube, and there were some funny videos
mcmurray Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I don't like categorizing but if I had to put a label on it: a mixture of instrumental/new age/metal/rock/fusion/multi instrumental with classical elements. Well I try to anyway
ShredAstaire Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Hard groovy rock with a dash of metal? I dunno!!
Silenced Fred Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 Hard groovy rock with a dash of metal? I dunno!! I didn't know metal was measured like my mom in the kitchen... "dash of salt, dash of pepper, dash of metal..."
rjay777 Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I dig all types of genres, but I tend to lean more on bluesy riffs. Typically 70's hard rock and boogie.
milod Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I thought I'd replied earlier, but... I can't say. I do everything from a little Bach to piano bar to rock to blues to folkie, country to cowboy. The times I've specialized it was because I was paid to. A pro friend of mine pretty well nailed it last night as we talked about this one, although crudely: "I'm a whore," he said, referring to his versatility on guitar and singing. He plays for a living in a sparsely-populated area and he's raised a family that way. I haven't gone that route, but when I've played just for me, it tends to be old acoustic blues of various sorts and "piano bar" jazz versions of "standards" up through the 60s. When I've played with others... whatever paid. m
flyingarmadillo Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Rock, classic rock, folk, occasionally country, and whatever else I feel like. The girlfriend wants to take classical lessons, so I may venture off that ways for a bit -- after all it isn't that often you get to buy a new guitar (or two) w/ the blessing of the girlfriend!
Kimbabig Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqVHOQDhgc4 ****ing sick! this rocks, I actually enjoyed this.
Shnate McDuanus Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Hard groovy rock with a dash of metal? I dunno!! Count me in the same boat, bro.
EvanPC Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I find that I play nothing like what I listen to recreationally. It's had me baffled since I started playing. I've theorized that it's a subconcious initiative my brain takes me on. Some may call me a tense person. An "over thinker". Moody. Worry too much. So...because of this, I think my brain is swaying me to play something which balances me out. Therefore, when I play, it tends to be very mellow, smooth, and warm. I realize when I finish, I'm relaxed and calm. Haven't thought about anything else while I played. At any rate, if I'm listening to music, it's much more energetic and aggressive compared to what I play.
Sancho Panza Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Garage rock! Shifting barre chords and snotty lyrics. Touching the field into psychedelia too.
retrosurfer1959 Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I'm a rapper - I'm gonna go my the name peg-leg and I hope to tour with Justin Beber.
