Here's what Epiphone say about the Les Paul Tribute Plus Epiphone's premium Les Paul Tributes have offered the professional guitarist all the performance they need - whether it's on the road or in the studio. Now, Epiphone steps it up a notch by adding a gorgeous AAA Flame Maple Top and new translucent colors! Introducing the Les Paul Tribute PLUS - the new standard for professionals that now looks just as stunning as it sounds and feels. As Good As It Gets! Epiphone's history and association with Les Paul dates way back to the days when Les, working at the Epiphone factory on 14th St. in New York, created the world's first electric guitar. Over the years, Les continued to work closely with Epiphone by reviewing new product ideas and offering suggestions. The Epiphone Les Paul "Tribute" Plus honors that relationship by combining "as good as it gets" performance and features with legendary Epiphone quality and value. At the heart of the "Tribute" Les Paul is Great Design! Tributes feature a solid Mahogany back with a solid, carved hard Maple cap with Flame Maple veneer to create the ultimate combination of warmth and bite. Everyone knows that set-neck guitars provide the best rock tone and sustain and the Tribute PLUS takes that to the next level featuring the original "deep set" neck joint. The solid Mahogany neck with hand-fitted, glued-in joint extends well into the neck pickup cavity creating maximum neck-to-body contact and acting almost like one continuous piece of wood. Combined with the Mahogany/Maple body, the result is a tribute to Les' timeless guitar design with the sound that you can only get from a Les Paul. SlimTaper Neck Profile The new Tribute PLUS features the "1960's" SlimTaper neck with a comfortable "D" shape that was introduced and made famous on many 1960's era, Kalamazoo-made guitars from Gibson and Epiphone. This profile is thick enough to provide the stability and tone you want but thin enough to provide you with the comfort and speed you need. In other words... it feels just right! But quality construction, premium woods and choice are only part of the equation. Capturing all the power and nuances of the Tribute PLUS is a pair of authentic Gibson USA '57 Classic humbucking pickups. With its "Patent Applied For" decal on the base plate, the '57 Classic and '57 Classic Plus are faithful replicas of the famous Gibson humbuckers that helped define the music of the late 1950s. The '57 Classic gives you a tone that is warm and subtle with full, even response that doesn't hold back when you need that classic Gibson humbucker crunch! The '57 Classic Plus is the perfect bridge pickup and mimics humbuckers of that era that received a few extra turns of wire. This treatment gives the pickup slighter higher output without sacrificing its rich, vintage tone. In combination, this pair of humbuckers overdrives tube preamps to a smooth level of saturation without becoming overpowering. Both '57's feature Gibson's special Alnico II magnet, vintage enamel coated wire, nickel plated pole pieces, nickel slugs, maple spacers and vintage-style, braided wiring. But this guitar is not just about recreating the "old", it's also about looking ahead... just as Les himself continued to do throughout his lifetime. Using 4-conductor pickup wiring, Epiphone has added two push/pull tone pots to allow for series/parallel pickup switching. The result is a Les Paul with huge pallette of tonal possibilities - from full-on, in your face humbuckers to quacky singlecoil-like sounds and everything in-between. Loaded with premium add-ons! Other upgrades include a U.S. Switchcraft 3-way toggle, Mallory-150 tone capacitors, Epiphone StrapLocks, 16:1 ratio premium Grover locking tuners and a premium hard case. Like every Epiphone, it features their Limited Lifetime warranty backed by world famous 24/7/365 day Gibson Customer Service. This guitar is not only a tribute to Les Paul; it's a tribute to just how good a guitar can be...TODAY! jonnyg
I've been thinking about getting a new Les Paul and I'd kind of settled on the LP Tribute 60's model. Comparing it to the new one on this thread I can't really see any difference apart from a flame maple veneer which isn't really important to me. Anyone know if there's any other difference apart from the £100.00 price hike (60's Tribute = £499.00 - Tribute Plus £599.00) Here's the spec of the 60's tribute model from Andertons web site. Body Material: Mahogany Top Material: Carved Hard Maple Neck Material: Mahogany Neck Shape: 1960's SlimTaper;; D profile Neck Joint: Vintage "Deep-Set", Glued-In Truss Rod: Adjustable Scale Length: 24.75" Fingerboard Material: Rosewood with mother-of-pearl Trapezoid inlays Neck Pickup: Gibson USA '57 Classic; Humbucker (4-wire) Bridge Pickup: Gibson USA '57 Classic Plus; Humbucker (4-wire) Controls: Switchcraft; 3-way Pickup Selector, Neck Pickup Volume, Bridge Pickup Volume, Neck Pickup Tone (push/pull - series/parallel), Bridge Pickup Tone (push/pull - series/parallel) Electronics: Mallory-150 tone capacitors Binding:Fingerboard - 1 ply (cream), Body - 1 ply (cream) Fingerboard Radius: 14" Frets: 22; medium-jumbo Bridge: LockTone; Tune-o-matic/Stopbar Nut Width: 1-11/16" Hardware: Nickel Machine Heads: Grover; Locking Tuners Includes: Hard Case Warranty: Epiphone Limited Lifetime

Supersonic
I would love to see some TRIBUTE SG's that would be awesome Good call! They keep making all of these awesome LP's with upgraded electronics and whatnot, but where's the love for the SG's? How about an Epi version of one of these with correct body beveling, Gibby pickups, long neck tenon, and all of the other goodies.
rdsmith3
and they put speed knobs on these, which makes them even better!
bigneil
Those LPs look really nice. good specs too. I agree that LPs seem to get most of the special editions, limited runs, and attention and the G400s hardly get anything by comparison.

buliwyf
Well I'm sure I'm hanging myself out for the sharks but I gotta say what i feel.To start with I would buy one of these in a heartbeat and am very close to pulling the trigger on an Epi tribute LP standard especially with the Gibson 57 classics in it and for a good price of $799.00. To my eyes though a LP looks wrong without a pick guard on it and that's my only complaint with the plus and the standard tribute!Kind of a small, stupid, picky thing but hey my opinion! Please be kind and thanks for the heads up on the plus model. Lord Summerisle
Many Epiphone Les Paul models these days, it seems. But never, ever, a double-cut??? Hey, Mr. Epiphone, make me something like this, please:
DoubleWide Revival
Hey, buliwyf! Good to see another Georgia player in the house! It's funny, I usually pull pickguards off as soon as I get home. I also agree with Lord Summerisle. I want a DC. My company is big in Japan, and I am always so tempted to get one of them to purchase a Tak DC for me and ship it back. If they made one that was not black or Goldtop, I probably would have pulled that trigger by now.
Lord Summerisle
Hey, buliwyf! Good to see another Georgia player in the house! Clearly Georgia contributes a fair few Epi forum members. Greetings from "Lord Summerisle" (aka Johnny). An Englishman living, working, and sometimes playing guitar, right here in Valdosta, Georgia. Epi Rocks
Good call! They keep making all of these awesome LP's with upgraded electronics and whatnot, but where's the love for the SG's? How about an Epi version of one of these with correct body beveling, Gibby pickups, long neck tenon, and all of the other goodies. Got one of these by Epiphone in antique white, G400 Custom LTD Maestro, made in Unsung Korea. A gift from my lovely wife. They only made them for a short while in 2006 so it's difficult to find one new. Unfortunately it didn't come with Gibson pups, just those crappy Hotch HB's, so I modified mine a bit. Pickups, pots, caps, etc... I posted an image on the 'Let's see your Epiphone post'. Check it out. Paul
