Kimbabig
Clean, Robby Krieger's tone of you're lost little girl, especially the solo. Dirty, pretty much everything by Chris Poland.
Riffster
I love Ritchie Blackmore's tone all around, clean and overdriven. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFnEGR580bU For super raunchy tones I like the slide work of George Thoroughgood with P90's and semi-hollow. milod
Well, I'll show my age... Your computer speakers may make a diff on this too, but... for clean... gotta be somebody like Joe Pass. For "dirty?" It's gotta be the original, the guy whose simple instrumental was banned from a batch of radio stations. This ain't the first recorded version, that was in the '50s! But... it's still a lotta fun. I still have my mid '50s bike jacket... that I'd only wear pickin' a guitar meant for dirt like this one... m

charlie brown
Well, for me, there are so many, and too...there's "clean," then there's "overdrive clean." Clean...Les Paul, Chet Atkins, Kenny Burrell, Wes Montgomery, etc. Overdriven Clean...Mike Bloomfield, Peter Green, BB King, EC, Dickie Betts, Ritchie Blackmore, etc... Overdriven...Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Guy, EC (again), SRV, etc. (That's about as "dirty" tone wise, as I really tend to like.) CB

krock
Clean would be the solo's from either one of these two. However, if it includes acoustic then landslide by fleetwood mac would be up there aswell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQWszrZHBPI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXp413NynFk Dirty would be either Link Wray, the father of the distorted tone or ac/d. Oh also John Petrucci when he did G8 with satriani
