FirstMeasure Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Gold Top, Baked Maple, Coil Tapped Burst Buckers.....Gibson must have been thinking of me when they built this one
dem00n Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 I like it, looks like its going to be 1k at the store.
FirstMeasure Posted November 29, 2011 Author Posted November 29, 2011 Yeah, working mans price. Affordable quality, not as nerve racking as taking a $2500 LP to a questionable hole in the wall bar.

That dream compliments my dream of a Doubleneck Nighthawk perfectly
charlie brown Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Damn! Another "Gold Top" to lust for! LOL CB
FirstMeasure Posted November 29, 2011 Author Posted November 29, 2011 Damn! Another "Gold Top" to lust for! LOL CB I love Gold Tops, it's a crime that I don't own one....yet.
charlie brown Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 I love Gold Tops, it's a crime that I don't own one....yet. Well, here's your chance, FM. Go for it! CB
FirstMeasure Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 Love this angle of it. Such a sleek profile.
Riffster Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I'd like to give it a play and see how that 25.5" scale feel on a Gibson.
djroge1 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 If the neck is anything like the Epiphone recently released then I'll pass.
Thundergod Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Love it! Hope they aren't too pricey and they offer them in blue.
charlie brown Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Love it! Hope they aren't too pricey and they offer them in blue. Played a Pelham Blue version, last weekend, at my dealer's store. Nice Guitar! CB
krock Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Played a Pelham Blue version, last weekend, at my dealer's store. Nice Guitar! CB Whats the sustain on it like? From the pic further up of the thread it looks very thin
FirstMeasure Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 If the neck is anything like the Epiphone recently released then I'll pass. I doubt it is anything like the Epi neck. Gibson Specs say it's a slim 60's shaped neck, the only difference being it's 25.5 inch scale length. Played a Pelham Blue version, last weekend, at my dealer's store. Nice Guitar! CB I'm very torn between the Pelham Blue and Gold Top. Whats the sustain on it like? From the pic further up of the thread it looks very thin I can't speak for the new one, but my '95 sustains forever. Never once have I wished it had more sustain, in fact I need to use the volume knob when I want a chord to die off at the end of a song. Sill, I need to get down to a guitar store and try out a new one.
FirstMeasure Posted December 7, 2011 Author Posted December 7, 2011 Well, I tried one at Guitar Center. <_< It's a nice guitar in it's own right, but nothing like the original run. Much brighter sound and nowhere near the sustain of my '95. Sounds cool, but more like a Tele with humbuckers than a Gibson. I'm sure that's because they didn't use Mahogany, it must be poplar or alder.
Sinner 13 Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Gold Top, Baked Maple, Coil Tapped Burst Buckers.....Gibson must have been thinking of me when they built this one I have not liked this design since its inception, but again to each their own, just my 2 cents.
FirstMeasure Posted December 7, 2011 Author Posted December 7, 2011 I have not liked this design since its inception, but again to each their own, just my 2 cents. Can't agree with that. The original Nighthawk is a tone monster, these new things are tone gnomes.
pippy Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I'd like to give it a try just for the sake of interest. Out of curiosity, why had FM a rating of -2 on his original post when I opened this thread? There's nothing I can see that would warrant any negative stuff whatsoever. Has he p'd someone off, perhaps? I don't get it! P.

I never pay attention to the plus/minus system, anyway
