  1. Don't forget Get Yer Ya Yas Out. They were just great during that period but then the drugs took over. By and large Exile seems like a big muddy mess of out takes to me.
  2. It could be a Robert Fripp prototype knob for Three Of A Perfect Pair. Don't look for what he's been up to recently, it's kind of disturbing.
  3. As luck would have it, I stumbled across this old Champ brand fedora for $10. Can't pass that up! They went out of business a long time ago. If you look at the bottom of the ribbon you can see the wind cord, it's a button with a string attached to it that goes into your shirt buttonhole to keep it from being blown down the road.
  4. Yep, he had a bowler on his head. You'd be in luck as there are TONS of old sub-7 hats for sale out there. I doubt they'll ever come back into fashion but that's okay, more for me!
  5. No time for the old in out, mum, just stopped by to read the meter! Always did like that movie. That particular one is the real thing, a Locke & Co. Hard Coke, the original hard hat for the horsie set. I'm afraid it's too small for me but it was only $20. It belonged to a Scottish immigrant who would only wear it on special occasions (along with his kilt, ha, ha). If you're into hats you'll quickly discover that each generation's heads get larger so getting vintage hats in your size is a bit of a challenge. I do have a derby from the cast of My Fair Lady which fits fairly well. The owner who sold it to me was just so happy to find someone who was interested in hearing about his Broadway days as a young man. To his wife it was just another boring story and the hat was old junk to throw away.
  6. That's when you need a bowler, they're more aerodynamic.
  7. Bought another hat for some odd reason. I've probably got 60 of them already but I don't have a modern Stetson Whippet so why not.
  8. I'm not sure how popular the Steve Ford Empty Box Special would be, to be perfectly honest with you. P.S. I was thinking this guy was somehow related to Freddie King and this was the second Freddie King reissue. Is my face red.
  9. Rode a motorcycle at 80 MPH in the snow (in late April?) and managed to get home before the roads got slick, had a plumber replace a section of thoroughly clogged galvanized pipe with PVC and am finally going to get a real hair cut later on today. Also finished up Michael Osterholm's Deadliest Enemy: Our War Against Killer Germs. According to Dr. Osterholm, while COVID-19 is bad, it's not the big one which he predicts is coming up sooner or later. He expects it to come in the form of an influenza strain courtesy of chickens and pigs.
  10. Five. I never understood the whole Beat Loaf thing.
  11. One of my buddies worked with a guy who had Albert Collins as a neighbor. I don't know his name, I'll call him Ed. Albert had the same motorhome as Ed and Albert was always coming over trying to buy parts off of Ed's motorhome. It finally got to the point where it was oh no, here comes Albert...
  12. Depending on how you play you might find your hand banging into the pivot for the tremolo arm. I've never had a III but I've had two VIIs and tuning is okay but not as good as the Steinbergers, one had a tune-a-matic and the current has a Grover roller bridge. Keep the flat head screw on the end of the tuning knob snug, that seems to play a large part in keeping it in tune. Sustain should be okay but no idea for pricing.
  13. The new Standards don't come with one or at least mine didn't. They must be Chibsons.
  14. No, that's out of my price range by a LOT. Caution: do NOT use sideways vibrola, will cause surface damage... You think they would have shimmed it for clearance but not my call. Luckily, no sign of my errant better half and I would prefer to keep it that way. That woman was brutal.
  15. I read elsewhere that they have to have the guitar in their possession to reissue a COA. Whoever posted it was really ticked about having to send a guitar in but oh well.
  16. https://www.gibson.com/Guitar/CUSLEA305/Marcus-King-1962-ES-345-With-Sideways-Vibrola/Sixties-Cherry One odd thing, engraved stereo truss rod cover but it's a mono guitar?
  17. Day 3 of online training. thank God it's over!
  18. It's like audio gear or motorcycles or whatever, there's no right or wrong answer, it's just a matter of what you like. The Martin sound appeals to me, the Gibson looks appeal to me. I mostly play electric so one high end acoustic is enough for me. If I was going to own multiple expensive acoustics I could see a Martin J-40 and maybe a Dove or a Hummingbird for some variety (and the looks).
  19. Is that why they call them F-holes? Take my $1400 and send me a Korean Guild, please.
  20. Maybe a mix up at the factory. Looks good from here.
  21. Do you think they would perform better than Gibson TONE PLASTICS?
  22. My HD-28V came with plastic ones but I switched out to the ebony w/ abalone dots because of the looks. I don't know if it made a difference or not. For such an expensive guitar I would think Martin went with plastic for a reason (other than just being cheap and trying to sell you a pack of ebony pins).
  23. Looks a fair amount like my 2017 but different pick ups and dots. What's the back of the neck like, satin which buffs out to a semi gloss real fast?
