New CEO and upper mgt a Gibson. They'll take away or add as needed for their chapter 11 charter
-
Besides Gibson in Chapter 11, fired old owner/boss got new power and new boss. Wonder how any model survived.
-
My suggestion is play it for a bit before changing. Just putting a pickup at the bridge changes the tone and volume over then neck position. You might like this balance in sound
-
Upper bout sure is wood grain. Not 100% certain with the pot location lines, whether checking crack in nitro or just the wood grain. Different angle picture might clear that slightest doubt of just wood grain

Headstock was never like that from Gibson 3 screw truss rod cover screams Chinese import Bridge is wrong for a Gibson Bolt on neck and with steel neck plate screams Chinese import Pickups look like a clone of Gretsch Fulton pickup. And a whole lot more

I'm just curious on why so many zombie post from 2008 are being resurrected when information not related to the topic
-
Not sure why you'd resurrect such an old post (2008) in stead of starting a new one. Right headstock looks like someone cutdown the old headstock to "resemble" a Gibson. Body is wrong shape too. And what's with the 10 deg twist with the bridge pickup. I'd put a guitar like this in my trunk, for lunch time practice cause it will make guitar sounds, and I wouldn't worry about heat, cold, freezing, rain hurting it

We've seen posts before about guitars where you hold strings and gets quite hmmm. obviously you're acting as an attena and when you get grounded (hand on string or bridge or foot on pedal) noise stops. humbuckers are 100% quiet and still transmit hum if there is enough, try putting a anti static solution like a liquid fabric softener about 1/4 of a spray bottle mixed with 3/4 water and spray your carpet in your room

Guitar Center exclusive runs are their own beasts. GC can specify color, woods, hardware along with their own serial number runs Can't compare those to over a 3yr old post. Heck try something from the 70's and it won't match up either.

very easy to chip the finger board yanking the frets out. if it was me and I didn't really trust anyone close in my town.. I'd email 1 place that does vintage repairs all the time gruhn@gruhn.com contact Greg Voros , he's the head repair guy. email them a number of detailed pictures. he shoots straight and their prices are not out of line with anyone else but you know you guitar is in the hands of pretty close to the best repair shop in your country

is your LPJ single coil ? p90? without the control cover copper shield connected to anything.. No.

ok I went back to IMGUR, take a look. thought it looked more complicated to upload pictures than before.. I can see on my computer it's straight forward, maybe I was confused when I used the phone a short time ago, [edit] actually the darn phone app won't let me in unless I select "stuff I love" and need to click on subjects to follow before it lets me in.. grr just tested upload

Brand new 2019 50s Les Paul Standard dent under scratchplate
Eracer_Team replied to sunking101's topic in Gibson USA
Well door ding or hood scratch is a far cry from a nut mark under a pick guard. As stated, it's like seeing blemish under a spoiler or behind a mud flap on a new car. That said. Nitro is nice to look at and bad for a surface cause its soft. Don't wear mosquitoe repellent playing your Gibson outdoors, It will haze the surface. Opps, so much for playing outdoors That said, the nick is an easy fix for a good guitar tech. A drop of nitro on the spot will meld with the surface and cover the spot. Then use a smaller length of the screw https://www.stewmac.com/Materials_and_Supplies/Finishing_Supplies/Finishes_and_Solvents/ColorTone_Spraying_Lacquer/ColorTone_Nitrocellulose_Guitar_Lacquer.html -

Depending on how badly you don't want the LP and how badly you want a SG Because I'm not an SG guy, you'd have to pay me to take the SG I vote no

Remember when they say nut slots, they mean width over depth

Brand new 2019 50s Les Paul Standard dent under scratchplate
Eracer_Team replied to sunking101's topic in Gibson USA
Good gravy The responses of a ding in the finish from a nut holding the pick guard on which 99.9% never be removed Vs Scratches and dents one could put on it while playing. Guess one can find an unblemished guitar and could keep it in the case under their bed or in a closet, -
Brand new 2019 50s Les Paul Standard dent under scratchplate

This is a 50yr old " problem, " I even have a Japanese clone from 1982 that has the ding. If that's only problem, I wouldn't worry about But, nitro is workable, The drill hole will be an issue if you take the guard off, But the little dent, just put a drop nitro on the spot and it should blend in Stewmac USA sells nitro, don't know who does in UK -
If the magnetic pull of the pickup is interfering with string movements might sound weaker. Try lowering it. Also you don't say if it was ever loud. Could be as suggested not hot pickups

The warranty is so restrictive, it's not like a new car warranty. Almost no point

I've looked at Wildwood site for many years. The nature of their business seems to be able to request a custom run and they get what they want.

Buckethead LP - Differences between first and subsequent runs
Eracer_Team replied to mcmurray's topic in Gibson USA
Tricky. You really need to find someone that a) really digs Brian the Buckethead b) really wants a Les Paul in 27" scale length, with kill switch in alpine white I think pretty much a niche market And only a hard core collector I think would care that it's part of the first run Good luck -
You just want to ask "How high the moon" is
