  1. Yes Dub, I was expecting some volume difference but not as much as I actually finished up with. I never tried using it in a live scenario because I think getting the levels & tone right would have been just to much of a juggling act as I don't use any pedals.
  2. After trying reversing the magnet in the neck pickup but not reversing the pickup itself (so that it appeared as normal) I found the out of phase sound to be a little half hearted, so I reversed the pickup (as per Peter Green's). The effect was dramatic to say the least, the neck pickup became super loud because of the placement of the poll pieces I'm guessing, so I had to screw down the neck pickup and raise the bridge one. That had the desired effect but I still didn't sound like Peter Green, I can't think why☺️ The problems that I had with this mod, is when using the middle out of phase position it was a great deal quieter than when using individual pickups and as I wanted to use the out of phase sound for lead work, setting the levels for band practice just became a massive juggling act. I've now reverted the guitar back to it's original set-up.
  3. I guess I'm kind of lucky in this respect, my Wife has bought me a Gibson J15 (because she thought it sounded the best acoustic in Gibson's Memphis showroom) and an R8 (because I was born in 1958).
  4. I don't have any stickers on my guitars or case, I might consider it for the case if anyone was prepared to "hire" the space but I'm not holding my breath for this 🙂
  5. Another sad loss, it feels as though we're loosing influential at the rate of one a week! RIP David
  6. Enzo, I think the best thing to do is e-mail Gibson support with the serial number and photo's, they'll be able to tell you what it is, they are usually quite helpful.
  7. Enzo, welcome to the forum and your English is fine (a lot better than my French!). I believe your guitar is a Les Paul Recording model.
  8. As a side note, a couple of days ago, I read a newspaper article saying HMV the largest record shop chain in the U.K has been saved from it's demise by the recent revival of vinyl which rather surprised me.
  9. Oh, I thought you were just being thick.
  10. We've lost another great musician, I guess they are all getting to that kind of age. RIP Jeff
  11. Sorry, my fault entirely, I was meaning metaphorically, I shouldn't have just assumed everyone would understand that.
  12. I found this video interesting, Rhett and his chum comparing several PRS's with his Les Paul. I have to say, I agree with Rhett's point of view, whilst PRS's have excellent & consistent build quality, to me they are completely soulless.
  13. I don't think I could listen to an entire album of their music, but crikey they can certainly play.
  14. I know a lot of people on this forum like Peter Kay and as he's recently emerged from his self imposed hiatus, I thought some would like this interview with him:
  15. Very nice indeed! congratulations, you made a good choice.
  16. I always thought the Woman tone was a reference specifically to Eric's tone on "We're Going Wrong" from the Disraeli Gears album.
  17. Personally, I'd go for the R8 it will be a better guitar (but obviously I haven't played them), but I have a 2014 R8 and it's better than any Gibson USA guitar that I've ever played, I couldn't put int words whats better about it, it just is. The other thing to bear in mind is the re-sale value, the CS guitar will always be worth more and with it being second hand, the original purchaser has taken the biggest financial, so I'd guess you'll always get back what you paid for it.
  18. It's just the way of the World. I wouldn't spend to much time bothering about it, there are far more important things to think about.

    New ES-335

If you e-mail Gibson service with your serial number and a photo (I think o make sure it's real) they will tell you about your guitar, I've always found them really helpful.
  20. A great loss, Christine was a great songwriter, arguably the best one in Fleetwood Mac. I feel Britain and the World has lost two Queens this year. One of my favourite songs from here 2017 collaboration with Lindsey Buckingham: RIP Christine.
  21. Sadly, Wilco Johnson has passed away. It's quite extraordinary because Wilco was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given mere months to live back in 2013 whereupon he did his farewell tour but was then given the all clear and went on to make an album with Roger Daltrey. Wilco had a very unique guitar style and was always quite an interesting chap. 'Absolutely unique': Tributes as Dr Feelgood star Wilko Johnson dies (msn.com) RIP Wilco
