  1. It's also worth having a look at Peach Guitars in the U.K, they always seem to have a good selection. Home - Peach Guitars
  2. Thanks for posting, a great take on my favourite Beatles song.
  3. Welcome to the forum Dadgadelectric. Firstly as this is the Gibson forum your obviously going to get a biased opinion and ultimately it's going to be your choice at the end of the day. Personally I'd always go for the R8 because as you've already pointed out the resale value of the PRS is never going to be as good (a bloke in a guitar shop told me that this is because the best PRS is always the newest one they've released) and also, despite the PRS's being excellent well made instruments I've always found them to be a little soulless. Your money, your choice, good luck.
  4. Thank you for your review, personally, if I was looking I'd probably go for the 50's model.
  5. Hi Elmut, welcome to the forum and your guitar is a beauty! If I was looking at changing pickups, the first place that I would look at is Cream T pickups. Everyone seems to give them great reviews. Thomas Nilsen who builds them doesn't just try and copy how they were made in the 1950's, he measures all the readings from specific pickups and recreates how that pickup sounds. 6. I think you've misunderstood Lars, Rick Beato is defending Paul Simon.
  7. Or, I bought this guitar but it doesn't make me sound like Tommy Emmanuel 😬
  8. I find some of Rick Beato's YouTube video's informative & entertaining but I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I saw this one. He's commenting on some bloke who believes history will look upon Paul Simon as a musical nonentity! Paul is one of the twentieth century's greatest songwriters and has got to be viewed in the same company as Dylan and Lennon & McCartney. https://youtu.be/qoHC8K7mj9c
  9. Whichever guitar he buys to replace it he'll have to change the string's at some point. Regarding taking it to a shop to get the strings changes, it's like taking a car back because a garage can't fit in a service for a few weeks. The blokes an idiot.
  10. It's whatever floats your boat, if you can afford it why not? As has been previously mentioned, you only live once and if you don't spend it your kids will. Who wants to die a rich man?
  11. You could always use the Gibson Virtual Guitar Tech: Gibson | Virtual Guitar Tech Service , they'll put you in contact with a tech here in the U.K who'll go through it with you via Zoom. If that doesn't sort it out, I'd do as Lars suggested and contact Gibson Support, who will ship it out to Holland to repair it for you. I have been told that when they arrive back the guitar will be perfectly setup and better than new.
  12. There's an album out shortly featuring previously unreleased Gary Moore material. I'm always a bit sceptical when they find recordings like this because there's probably a good reason why it was never released but listening to this sample track, I'm thinking it sounds pretty good although the riff sounds like an amalgamation of Still Got The Blues and another GM track which I can't bring to mind the name of. Unmistakably Gary though, I think I'll be buying it.
  13. Found this on YouTube, Stone the Crows featuring the great Maggie Bell. She always makes me think she's like a female Stevie Marriot. Jimmy McCulloch on guitar who went on to play with Wings.
  14. I believe the lack of F-holes does lead to less feedback, as regards sound I'm not so sure, I've only ever played two, back to back, one was great the other was horrible so I'd say it varies from guitar to guitar.
  15. Very nice indeed. I've always liked 345's, they always make me think of Bill Nelson & Be Bop Deluxe.
  16. You could contact Gibson's Customer Service, they're usually quite helpful. If the bridge pickup is to hot you could always lower it a bit.
  17. I have no experience with a Flying V but I'd strongly recommend Hercules stand's, I have a couple like those: Hercules Stands - GS412B PLUS which I'd have thought would be suitable for a Flying V.
