  1. Hi, welcome to the forum. Though I'm not a bass player myself, I would suggest that any light gauge strings for the major manufacturer's will suit your needs. Look at Ernie Ball, Jim Dunlop, Rotosound & D'addario. I think D'addario are always a safe bet.
  2. Congratulations on the new guitar Pinch, it certainly looks the part and thanks for the review.
  3. I once read that a famous musician (could have been Bernie Marsden, but I'm not sure) put stickers on his guitar cases so that his daughter would have some idea of the value's and for his 59 Burst simply put "think the price of a nice house".
  4. Yes Brad, I agree with you on that. I saw them when they toured the album, I'd never heard of them until then but my friends and I would go and watch any band who's name looked interesting, but you could go and see bands for about £1.50 (about $2 I guess). I went to watch them again a year or two later and they were like a different band, all leather & studs. Not much interest to me then, however I do like their version of Diamonds & Rust.
  5. Very nice, too good an opportunity to refuse.🙂
  6. Way back in the 70's Judas Priest used to be a very good rock band.
  7. No, if you've had a guitar for 39 years you must like it and after that length of time it would be like loosing a member of the family.
  8. Hi Didier, and welcome to the forum. It maybe worthwhile contacting Gibson's Customer Service department, and giving them the serial number of the guitar, they might be able to help you. They're usually very helpful. Regards, Ian
  9. It's very simple Alex, when the smell wears off just go out and buy a new Gibson🙂
  10. Great track from Scottish band Nazareth, Miss Misery was released as the B side to My White Bicycle, but it was far better than the A side.
  11. Fantastic band, never really achieved the success that they deserved. Here's a more recent version of Sister Seagull, this one is closer to the album version:
  12. I asked one of the Gibson Technicians (the guys who do the online setups) this question regarding my 335 neck pickup and he told me they always measure from the poll piece.
  13. Might be worth dropping this chap a line, I think he knows everything there is to know about ES guitars: The Gibson ES-335 (es-335.org)
  14. Those blokes really did know how to rock back then. A stark contrast to most of todays "pop" music.
  15. That looks great, you must be very proud of your work😂
  16. Congratulations Rabs, she's a beauty, I hope you enjoy it foe many years🙂
  17. It doesn't look much to worry about to me, however now that you've identified it there's always the problem that it's presence could bug you going forward, after all I'm presuming you're intending keeping and playing the guitar for years to come. At the end of the day it's your call.
  18. You need to go out and play one, you may find that the difference in the neck isn't such a big deal.
  19. Mack, I think you'll find the biggest difference between the two will be the neck size, I have a 2014 Traditional and the neck of chunky to say the least, it's a lot bigger than my R8 (but I haven't played a 2018 model) and the 60's Standard will have a 60's slim taper one. Regarding the sound they're both Les Pauls so I would imagine you'll get the sound that your looking for regardless of which pickup type you go for. Play them if you can.
