  1. What year did the union label become a thing?
  2. Picture of the x brace ? The forward shift bracing should be about 1” from the sound hole edge , standard j45 is further back.
  3. Yup they would go through to the wood. Rough texture there applying shows that. that cost to buff out is crazy. But in the same token there charging more for less , I spray electrostatic finishes on Aircraft. Not a easy process on a large item let alone a small guitar Electrostatic falls onto the item. Where air sprayers push the product on which can be controlled easier . now with UV Clears with a curing system. Thats another issue. To many coats will cause failure. Laying it down properly takes patients.
  4. Go onto the gibson serial number site and make sure it gives you a year. With what your buying. Otherwize it appears to be good from what I see
  5. Hi . It looks spruce to me. The finish is so damaged I could see where you might think mahogany.
  6. I think the process with spraying clear through the electrostatic is why there not turning out properly , i ve noticed over the years. Paint manufactures are turning to a process that requires a UV lamp drying process , UV clear will dry in 10 minutes making it manageable. Where the old way of nitro spraying and drying takes ours to days. If the product is sprayed electrostaticly ,with a texture. The Uv dries it out so fast it does not have time to flatten out. Ive heard of this process for a few years. They als have a UV primer that will fill in grain very fast,, sand very easy then apply colors
  7. Can we include the plug in models? With a bass amp?
  8. I have two. A 1960!Princeton tweed.5f2 And s 63 Princeton Reverb thats all for me
  9. So if your a beginner wanting a guitar. . What is your music interest. Acoustic or electric? Are you going to stick with learning or stop because you lost interest ? As others mentioned Yamaha makes real good guitars that are not difficult to handle. Even for a beginner it should be easy to push the strings to make sounds. Not like the novelty guitars back in the day like the cheap Stella and Harmony’s if your interest is still there your learning improves. Then upgrade to a more expensive instrument . most music stores offer advice and can put you in a direction I know of a few folks that started off with Cort or cheap Fender acoustics and they became very talented in there craft Good enough to upgrade to Nicer guitars
  10. American Graffiti. 3s company. RIP.
  11. I think the VOS aged look looks awful. however. Gibson does have the best sunburst technique .
  12. Its a common thing when clear is put over fresh wood and resin plated pearls in a large amount that will cause this. Gibson is after the shine factor. Lots of material leads to more shrinkage and lacquer cracks. woods move , pearls dont.
  13. Those pearl logos do that over time. The clear lifts around the edges. Beings its a 2010. Its had plenty of time to that. Just about all of those do that.
  14. No.6 L00 N Lucas is what I read. Increase production pre making all the parts. One size fits all
  15. I could not think of a better guitar to put a pickup onto. I bet the feedback would be minor with a double x braced top .
  16. That angle of the saddle I would think would crack the bridge at the front in time. I would get another opinion to get that answer.
  17. Give it 20 years of ownership on a brand spanking new one. Play the heck out of it. Leave it resting on the couch. Knock it over a few times. And youll have one without paying a upcharge. 😁
  18. She is wearing shrink tubing. Nice. Seen one Hummingbird. Seen them all. 😁
  19. Without serial numbers it will be tough. you have any receipts from repairs or the orig purchase? Wish you luck on your quest.
  20. Lg2 burst x brace. Lg3 natural x brace. Lg1 ladder brace. Those numbers on the heel are probably social security numbers. ID in case of being stolen , have fun with it
  21. If there doing that , by not giving the case it comes with. That would be hi time to not deal with GC any more. The case is part of the guitar. up here a a hi end Martin case with a brass logo badge is around 750.00 cdn While the guitar ranges in the 4500 plus range.
  22. My wife fell out of bed. I thought a felt something.
  23. Thats a cool little unit. Tough to find here in this area.
  24. Those are starting to show there vintage appeal. I would say about 50% of what New Gibson acoustics I have are the same little issues.
