  1. Other than cost confidence, is there any practical concern about the OP items? Here are some more cheap locks from trusted brands. Dunlop dunlop cheap StewMac StewMac cheap Daddario Daddario cheap Schaller Schaller cheap
  2. Marc is unique and always enjoyable. Thanks for the link.
  3. I see. Unlucky! Yes I am aware of stainless grades. In the aircraft industry, it always used to be referred to as 'corrosion resistant' for accuracy. Never stainless. Salt air too eh? I hope you dont have any aluminum hardwear then.
  4. But are your uncoated strings stainless steel as the Polywebs are?
  5. I get that. When I was a kid and looked at trees. all I could see were catapults ;)
  6. I don't find it ugly. Its not as pretty as the production DC, but that ebony board outweighs the aesthetics entirely. What is attractive is its weight; less than 6lb . The Mini Humbacker is nice too. I would have removed the tenon cover and reattached the screws to fill the holes. But what I really liked was that the brief look of the DC Pro which had the sensible headstock (straight string path).
  7. Really, I think Scottish artists are 2nd to no one. a few examples to make the point: John Martyn Ian Anderson Maggie Bell (& Stone The Crows) Jack Bruce Bert Jansch Mark Knopfler / Dave Knopfler (Dire Straits)
  8. Rubber 'beer' washers (Fender) are my preferred strap keep but then you cant remove the strap. Not a problem until transporting in a bespoke case. Because they wont fit inside attached. My new Heistercamp strap meant looking for strap locks again. D'addario said that if you forget your 'lock' strap, the pins would still accept a regular strap. While this is true, the strap with locks attached wont fit other guitar pins, so you are stuck with using it on the same guitar. Neither do they sell separate strap pins for that purpose. I would rather not buy a whole new set just for a coupe of Daddario pins. Larry, it looks as if your locks are perfectly good. They are likely made of recycled alloys but that is entirely fit for purpose.
  9. After entirely giving up on straplocks (in favour of other methods) I recently tred some Daddario one. Yes the do protrude less but they still feel slightly weird.
  10. Dont forget caber tossing. No other people in the world could ever have conceived of that sport, er.. passtime,.. um.. activity! BTW Wild Turkey. I tried this when I was on my sojourn in USA. It might be the least pleasant experience of the whole 8 months.
  11. While I admire TV Yellow and Goldtop finishes, I cant imagine me using one. It would be like wearing the wrong outfit somehow.
  12. so the prehistorics are older than the posthistorics but with a smaller historical quotient. Meaning the prehistoric is more novel than the posthistoric. Its like some hysterical novel?!
  13. I missed that one. I've never heard one close up but I'm amazed at the the rich tone that they produce.
  14. So you owe it to yourself to wear 'em out before then. Have at it BB ;)
  15. Hopefully Gibson will expand those range of finishes in the fullness of time. Good to hear that your local stockist is back with Gibson again.
  16. I opted for Hummingbird & D35, though in reality I only need one steel string acoustic.

I didn't know that. Pillow Talk is my fave Doris movie. (BTW, I usually don't respond to enigmatic posts)
  18. wow, quite a list of guitars. I have to agree with the consensus here and say play some guitars now. I wouldnt worry too much about what will sound best with your amp, because they they should all sound great, though of course different.
  19. I like the look of lot 15, the 40s Gretch archtop. Though it wouldnt have a truss rod of course.
  20. Nice vid. I saw Fripp and King Crimson at Bournemouth Winter Gardens (Bob's home town) early 70s. At that time they had Bill Bruford and the unique Jamie Muir on percussion. Larks Tongues In Aspic was the current album. Memorable gig for certain.
