This was inspired by Karloff's post in 'Hobbys'. I wondered what his favourite was. I also wonder what everyone's is? So here's mine: Dead of Night - 1945 I recently replaced my DVD with a Blu Ray version (yes it is better) and it also had a featurette which in future I will watch before playing the movie. The imagery & imagination makes the stuffy 1940s dialogue well worth it every time.

Yes but for some reason I didnt expect to hear a noticable difference. Actually, I do know why. It's ignorance. I read a book on acoustics (the science, not the guitars) from the 'Teach Yourself' range when I was at college. I never understood the physics but I got the principles ok. What interested me was the note collision you get when two sustained notes of slightly difference pitch happens. So 300 hz hits 308 hz and you hear/feel the 8 hz difference as oscillation. Yes, I should've been chasing girls. You can hear it here from 16.04 to 16.16 The oscillation; not girl chasing. Its on Garcia's guitar.

I have what appear to be Grover 102n (nickle) tuners on my ES-339. I say this because I have just bought a 102c (chrome) set to replace the G-Force on the LP. They look identical. (There is a tiny 102c sticker on the Grover blister pack. You have to hunt for it.)

Semi hollowbodies, especially small ones, are very quiet acoustically. They are also heavy, as the centre-blocks are pretty hefty. They make sense if you plan to gig. If not, why not take a look at full hollowbodies?
