  1. The surgical gloves thing was not entirely serious NN. I wonder if it would be possible to coat fingers instead of the string?
  2. Oh yes! I love to attend that. Especially for String Cheese Incident
  3. Its about 230,000 miles. Patrick Moore clocked up that many miles in his car. Though he kept it on the ground. Not like Les.
  4. I'll wager I'm the only one here who likes the rectangular 4 screw poker chip replacement
  5. Funny how nobody's mentioned deep fried Mars Bars yet
  6. Quite right, though I was reluctant to mention it, because lots of players will immediately think 'yuk, dirt!' But dirt is just misplaced matter. And sometimes it becomes mere opinion whether it is misplaced or not. It takes 30 minutes of playing to make my strings feel slick and right. Its just natural body oil. While others will clean the hell out of the it, then get the same effect by using some concoction like 'fast fret'. Whether you have oily skin or acidic skin, you cant stop up your pores. I suppose you could try surgical gloves?
  7. Some Asian entrepreneur will read this, and raise the cost of his $1 straplocks to $40
  8. I've just ordered a new laptop from John Lewis. It'll be delivered to my nearest store tomorrow but I'll probably pick it up Sunday pm. This way I get to keep my win7 one functional a while longer. It's lasted damned well, but only because I disabled updates that used to screw it up a couple of times a year. Trouble is some devices now need those updates. They can now go on the new one.
  9. I had no Gibson made a nylon guitar. Impressed!
  10. very tidy. Thats the spec I would go for!
  11. Looks good. I honestly dont know if I would prefer this to the 2018 HP or not. With the Modern I would change the pickups. With the HP I would change the tuners. I love the Modern's ebony board. I dislike the HP's rosewood one. Love the HP wider neck & adjustable nut. I dont like the flamed maple cap on either. It'd be nice to take both into a booth and compare them properly.
  12. Good idea. Would it interfere with your signal though? That may be a stupid question, but I really dont know.
  13. Great! Run & enjoy the cr@p out of it
  14. Fine artist. Distinctive voice and a good player.
  15. I'm liking that. Not much actual stock there yet but that is very welcome!
  16. I'd certainly go if it were closer. It looks very well presented. I have a book called 'Play It Loud' that does not seem affiliated with the event books. Play it Loud: An Epic History of the Style, Sound, and Revolution of the Electric Guitar Hardcover – 25 Oct 2016 by Brad Tolinski (Author), Alan di Perna (Author)
  17. The flu was mild (I had it worse at xmas), it hardly slowed me down, but lasted 12 days. It was 2 days after I was rid of it that I woke up on the bathroom floor. I'm never touching ibuprofen again. That was what caused the bleed.
  18. Well I had to re-check my settings to restore my picture and noticed my email was my old work one. And I retired 2 years ago! So that got replaced.
  19. Glad to see a happy punter! I'm still figuring it out. Seems good, but I had to re-load my picture, which was already there, and I cant remove the old one, so now there's two pictures...
  20. So that magic age of 65 brings on a duodenal ulcer which I wreck with meds while suffering flu. The resulting haemorrhage then turns me from fit person into dizzy, breathless infirm person. In the small hours of the morning I go to A&E (accident & emergency) at local hospital with just the clothes I’m stood up in. I didn’t get out for 6 days. They put me on all sorts of intravenous drips, stopped the bleeding and drained the blood out. That brought heart rate down & back to normal. Doctors and nurses were superb, as were the support workers. Never have I appreciated a cup of tea or a shower so much after those 1st three days. Man, I feel fortunate; especially after seeing some of the others on the ward. Yes the NHS is underfunded & under resourced, but they are dedicated and they care. Taking it easy convalescing at home now. I picked up a guitar and immediately felt normal again. No wine, chillies or butter for a while, but that’s easy enough & no big deal. Ok, back to some music… 🎸
  21. Yes strings will still be settling probably. Gorgeous clean sounds for sure. Live, I found I could not uses FX without feedback. Probably could have done if I re-positioned speakers & mics away earlier. Lovely to hold aren't they? 😊
  22. Congrats Retired. I like Casino Coupes and I had one too. This one to be precise: I too didnt much like P90s, but they sound fine on hollowbodies (to me). This played and sounded good and I used it on the debut gig for Jazz outfit Vinyl Frontiers. The only reason I gave it up was because of some instability. It seemed to need a set up every month and I'm lazy.
  23. I reported a similar hum problem to my luthier when I got my LP. He said "yeah, some of them do that". So you and I dont have humbuckers; we have 'hum's.
