lengle1981
Been some cracking threads on here with everyone showing off their axes, have to say I'm jealous with some of the guitars some on here have, there's some beauties that's for sure. Just wondered what people are looking at purchasing next? For me i think its a sorrento with P90's providing i can get hold of one of the old ones on eBay and a casino, but that's when I've saved enough money and if the mrs lets me ha. Almost forgot, don't be scared to put pictures up if need be!

Sorrentos are nice, I used to have one. I wish they hadn't dsicontinued them. There's definitely a small, but hard core following for P-90 hollowbodies. What's next for me? I'm always on the lookout for deals on Epi LP's.
Old Rocker 59
For me , it's one of two choices , either a Pro Les Paul Standard in Honeyburst or a Les Paul Studio Special in Wine Red. Those are the ones that have the Block inlays and the Vintage style tuners.

lengle1981
ES-339. I'm kind of liking sunburst lately.... I like the 339 but I also like the bigger body like 335, that's the only thing that puts me off getting one. I know they're very popular on here. tweed2
I think that I have enough guitars with P-90s now (4), so it's time for something with mini-humbuckers. In keeping with the rest of the brood, this is in my crosshairs.

Dennis G
Well, what was going to be next on the list was a Ric 360/12, but I found a cherry red 1966 Guild Starfire IV on GC's vintage page. I gigged with one of these in the mid 60's, and sold it when I got drafted (and have been kicking myself ever since). I would seriously put this guitar up against the Gibby 335, and why Guild stopped making them...??? I've been casually looking for one of these on the internet, et al for a couple of years now. Well, saw this baby on their vintage page, called my local GC dept mgr, talked to him about what I was looking for (totally un modded). It's listed as in "good" condition, and it was in their Nashville store (not sure if that's good or bad LOL) It'll be here Thurs or Fri, and I have 72 hours to keep or return. My local luthier is on alert and said he'll give it a good going over while I wait. If all goes well, pics by next week sometime. Fingers crossed! That would be something to distract you from your original mission. I have to say, I'm glad I got mine, while they were still relatively reasonably priced. RICs are great guitars, but I'm not sure I could afford one now. And I'd probably go for the 330-12, I like that body style better, unless it's a 360-12 WB. Looking forward to the pics of the Guild. Think the 360 is the better shape IMO but that's just me.. 7 or 8 years ago you could pick one up in blue for £699 in the uk, now your looking at another £1,000 on top of that. Rickie prices have really shot up, I have no idea why though.
tweed2
I bought my '91, in 1998, for $1200. I have since put about $600 into it, parts and labor. There's one identical to it on eBay for $1900. I appraise myguitars every 2 years (for insurance purposes) and it came back at $2800. I've always wanted a RIC 325, but they're going for around $3000 now. I remember them at $1000-1200. Can't justify that.

That's why I love my epiphones. yes they're mass produced but they're great guitars. If your unhappy you can change the electrics and the pups and at an affordable price. Someone on here (I can't remember who) said they have a gibson 355 and an epi 355, they said they've changed the pups to gibson 57's and said it sounds almost as good as the gibson. Yes I'd love to have the cash to buy a gibson but I'm more than happy with my epiphone's, I've not had a bad one apart from the Sheraton 62 reissue which I sent back and have had replaced. The replacement by the way is superb.
Dennis G
That would be something to distract you from your original mission. No kidding, huh? I guess I figured that the Guild was a "there it is, go for it" (and admittedly, a trip down Memory Lane) while the Ric is "I can always order a new one". Hopefully the Guild will be as advertised. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Fingers still crossed.

Upgrading PU's makes a big difference, and with many of the current models, you don't even need to do that. Why take a couple $3,000 guitars to a gig in a local bar that pays you $100? I don't think they 'hold anyone back.' If you can't do it on an Epi, you can don't with a Gibson either.
Big Norm
Now that I have a Casino and will receive in a few days a brand new ES-339 pro, I would really like to add a Les Paul Ultra II or III to the family. I would like one like this : If it is a Ultra III would like this color... For an Ultra II, well the choice is not to wide... Probably a Cherry sunburst

Starcounter
Gibson SG. I love my epis, but the sg is just cheap enough. So many of my favorites played them, I'm finally gonna splurge on one.

Update: Got an email today saying the Guild was at the local GC. Called dept mgr at GC and yeppers, it's there. Picking it up tomorrow afternoon and going straight to the luthier with it (just talked to him too). He'll give it a good going over while I wait (72 hr returns on Vintage) and if all's well, I'll probably have him do a good setup and possible fret dress if necessary, plus anything else that might need attention. Depending on what's needed I probably won't get to pic's until next week sometime, but I'm like a kid at Christmas right now! \:D/
lengle1981
After having a go on one the other day I think my next guitar is a Ross up between a gibson SG special and a casino now. The SG was a beauty , they play really well and are so cheap , I was surprised at the quality to be honest, used to have a gibson SG standard which I foolishly sold and it more than stood up to that. I'm liking the idea of using a vibramate to put a B5 bigsby on it. Anyone have any experience with a vibramate?
