I have only come to appreciate Blur in recent times; Daman Albarn is such a talented man! My wife loves The Stone Roses too and we both like The Verve[cool]

Between Brit Pop and Grunge, enough areas were covered to extinguish the old and bring in the new[biggrin] That 'special relationship,' as Bush and Blair called it, once again uniting the UK and USA for the greater good of human kind[biggrin]

My favourites include The Sterophonics, The Verve, Manic Street Preachers, Blur, The Stone Roses. All can trace their roots to the Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Who etc - arguably.

But Oasis have to be top of my list. What's The Story Morning Glory is still one of my all time favourite albums.

Paul Weller towers over them all for me. Brit pop? Dunno!

Maybe not Britpop, in the true sense of the word; but Radiohead are an amazing band too that came from the 90's. They have been a huge influence.

Albert; As for the Manics, I still remember turning on my tv in my room and the Brit awards being on and seeing them the first time. They were playing Design For Life and it was a great moment[cool]

It was just such a breathe of fresh air from all the glossy permed hair brigade that had dominated rock only a few years earlier.

Some Britpop trivia: Noel Gallagher (from Oasis) had all the money in the world and played an Epiphone.

Because he didn't want to ruin the finish on a Gibby with that duh [drool]

Josh Homme also played on an Epiphone' date=' so it just begs to question, why do people who aren't playing these giant live shows, need such a thing? The answer is, at least for me, because I can! And I really don't care what anyone else says

Occasionally Britpop is just the thing. I keep a playlist with some on my iPod.... Blur, Stone Roses, Suede, Oasis, Pulp, The Verve, and I throw in some Radiohead too. They keep moving that sound forward for sure. And for a bridge back the other way, I toss some XTC into that playlist as well.

This is the first song that pops into my head upon hearing the term Britpop....

My favorite is Oasis.

I never got into Oasis much until a few years ago, a good friend of mine is from Manchester and he idolizes them, I got to hear a lot of their other songs and I was strangely hooked.

I am a big Beatles fan but does not bother me they use them as a heavy influence, they admit that anyway.

Quite so. Paul Weller is also a Casino user. They are fantastic guitars.

Noel uses an SJ200 alot too. Great player.

The Verve was a truely great band. I recon Urban Hymns was the best things to come out of the 90s (that and Satch's Crystal Planet).

bitter sweet synphony used to do my head in!' date=' i lived around the corner from the market where they filmed it and every day i walked home from work i'd see r ashcroft walking up and down the same bit of pavement singing the same old part! hahaha, fave two of mine are the drugs dont work and sonnet [biggrin

British pop music determined at least my life(I rather avoid to start a flamewar...so I'll stick to my life)! I discovered pop music with the

- Shadows, later the Fab Four and the Stones, The Small Faces, The Who, The Kinks, Pink Floyd,

-....Led Zeppelin, Genesis, Yes, Stealers Wheel, Nick Drake

-...The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Jam,...Joy Division, New Order, Sioux and the Banshees, Fad Gadget, Sisters of Mercy,

-...the genius The Smiths, ...Blur and Radiohead

...and than it stopped...[crying]

I often wonder why the UK, such a small area in land mass and only a quarter of the population of the US, has arguably produced the majority of the music that has shaped modern popular culture?

It is always bloody raining and not exactly a glamorous place; just something about it I suppose.[crying]

Just saying[biggrin]
