Look at my signature - that's after the Mod Squad neutered my avatar without my consent.

I think the reason why the the mod did that cause it involve animal cruelty of an old man water boarding his dog to him to speak

I didn't find it funny at all. Sorry.

Are you earning enough to cover the services the gov't provides for you?

It's not enough to just have a job' date=' you gotta earn enough for Uncle Sam to rob you each year.

Varies from state to state, but if you earn less than $40k a year somebody else is carrying you - in any state.

No need to thank me directly.

I'm used to it after 25 years of supporting people who are unwilling to support themselves.

.....Well then I guess your cool with just stuffing those not paying their way into ovens after gold tooth removal.

Dem00n?

Is that you?

:-)

Keep typing Tazz.

You have absolutely no clue what I'm talking about' date=' but keep on typing anyway....

[biggrin

I put a reference in my avatar to Chinese-made guitars - it was removed within the day.

Mysteriously, I once again had the Arizona desert listed as my location.

The cartoon was removed by me.

But hey, go ahead and proceed with the pseudo-softie hand-wringing if it makes you feel better.

I find that hilarious - all self-righteous and do-goody....

Blackie.....Well then I guess you're cool with just tossing out those nazi references, eh?

What would anything I've EVER posted ANYWHERE on the web have to do with ovens or gold tooth removal?

What does **** Cheney have to do with ovens or gold tooth removal?

What does a cartoon avatar have to do with ovens or gold tooth removal?

What does your drunken rambling and lack of self control/respect have to do with ovens or gold tooth removal?

As far as people not paying their way - I have an incentive program for them.

Starvation.

I think you can find ANY ideology will have some references to such a motivational tool.

Even the ever-so trendy fascination we seem to have now with Socialism.

Nazis had no patent on it.

If one truly cannot help himself, he can always turn to men of faith to help them out - for awhile.

Oh, wait - you hate Christians too, don't you?

Sorry Duane, for taking "political name-calling" and making it "political".....

And if you decide to delete my message, be sure you get the original offending statement as well, hmmmmm?

What the hell? You guys turned this into another "fxck GC" thread.

WE GET IT ALREADY. GC is a huge corporation that take $ away from "mom and pop shops" notorious for bad customer service and having guitars beat up by a bunch of teenagers (I'm very careful with them though so psh).

Move on already...

As someone who has worked my *** of for eight years to get where I am, lived through a few two-jobs and <20K a year years and never voluntarily taken a single govt. benefit, whether medicaid, welfare or even subsidized immunizations, I find that second sentence a little hurtful. I'm not sure which services you've provided me, but I didn't ask for them, so I guess I *won't* thank you.

Believe me they are hurting and if you are paying cash they WILL give the discount. I just got 15% a couple weeks ago on a fender no less. I've yet to have them deny the use of a coupon in store. Now online is another story they rarely cave.

Don't forget the "Fxck you' date=' you fxcking nazi/domestic terrorist" posts I've been a regular target of....

You [i']gotta[/i] love that sh!t, eh?

:-

Give Guitar Center a rest?

When my work is done, I will.

As long as they keep doing what they do, I'll keep doing what I do.

After twenty years of it, I've found some pretty effective strategies.

And for those of you with some sort of reading disability or selective comprehension, I'll go real slow here;

F O R .... T H E .... T H I R D .... T I M E .... maybe we should give Guitar Center it's own forum...

I know, several of you still won't get it.

Keep supporting that corporation, I'm sure you'll do just fine....

Welcome to the club. I'm thinking that maybe you get it - you just don't like the way it sounds...

Trying to go to back to college in 1986, I earned a grand total of $6,000 that year.

Took a penny from nobody, wiped out my savings, lived on Ramen noodles and canned tuna.

I did the same thing to finish up my education in 1996.

I used the same streets, public buildings, utilities and services as everybody else but paid jack for taxes.

I find that second sentence a little hurtful.

I wish more people did.

Reality is a m@therfxcker' date=' and nobody wants to face it.

It bothered me that I couldn't pay my own way, control my own destiny.

Lived in cheap rentals, parked my car because I couldn't afford to fix it, and rode a motorcycle rain or shine.

My folks were making big bucks, and I knew how much they paid in taxes to get the same benefit as me.

When I got back into the money-making world, I looked at my check each week and saw how much I "gave"....

I used the same streets, public buildings, utilities and services as everybody else but paid $$$$$$ for taxes.

I'm not sure which services you've provided me' date=' but I didn't ask for them, so I guess I *won't* thank you. [/quote']

Yeah, that fixes it....

Gotta keep that pride, that's the most important thing, eh?

Not taking a shot at you personally, H9, just putting the cards on the table for all to see.

Fact -

Earning less than $40,000 means your tax "contributions" don't balance what the government spends on you.

That's in all fifty states, and it's gone WAY up in the last year with our federal money policies.

Before you know it, you'll have to join the 10% who earn $100,000 a year to actually call yourself a "donor."

I'm seriously considering spending the rest of this year attending school full time to finish my degree.

If so, I won't be carrying the load for anybody for Tax Year 2010.

I got mine, and I'm keeping it for me.

I may choose not to participate in this economy, but I'm seriously considering a board position with the town.

Unpaid, of course, but instead of being in the audience at the meetings I'll have a seat at the table.

And those "benefits" like the swimming pool, parks, playgrounds, BookMobile, special transportation?

After school kids programs, senior meals, a long list of community services?

The're ALL gone if I get my way, churches, charities, businesses and private citizens can step up for 'em.

My town is NOT gonna close another fire station or furlough more cops and still pay for that sh!t.

Anybody else here actually put down their guitar, get into the community and DO SOMETHING?

Or just get mad at internet forums....

I buy mostly from Rainbow Guitars. Although it will be interesting to see if they match the price I got from a dealer in Michigan on a guitar I'm going to buy soon.

I think of Guitar Center and Rainbow Guitars as having a totally different customer. Guitar Center attracts the beginners that are familiar with the Guitar Center brand, the WalMart crowd (you know the guys with lots of missing teeth), teenagers, shredders, and guys who love could only afford a $200 chinese import guitar but they have no problem wailing away on a $3,000 PRS that they will never be able to afford.

Rainbow Guitars attracts a more affluent customer, that has more disposable income. It's a totally different and much better vibe when I walk into Rainbow Guitars as opposed to walking into Guitar Center. Rainbow Guitars is by far the best guitar store in Arizona.

I go to GC about once a week to buy strings, or to buy a humidifier because unfortunately they are the only game in town in Phoenix. Whenever I leave Guitar Center I always feel like I have to take a shower.

How many in here bashing Guitar Center shop at Wal-Mart? Just curious.

In my hometown of Cincinnati' date=' OH we had tons of small music stores all over the place. Guitar Center put all of them out of business and Buddy Rogers and Willis are pretty much the only places left (both only carry a small fraction of the inventory that GC carries)

I will say this in GC's defense. I remember back in the mid 90's, paying above MAP for gear. Before their was GC all of the music stores were charging above MAP. When Guitar Center and MARS opened up shop in 1998, all of those music stores were forced into matching GC's price.

Back in the 90's before we had Guitar Center and e commerce got big, if you wanted to buy a guitar and you lived in Cincinnati you had two choices. A) Pay above MAP from a local dealer [biggrin Order at MAP through Musicians Friend

I remember buying a Marshall JTM-60 when I was in high school through Musicians Friend in the mid 90's, because Buddy Rogers refused to match their price. Now if you go into Buddy Rogers they have everything listed at MAP. Guitar Center forced them to do that. They would have never done this if it weren't for Guitar Center.

WHY do you think I'm CONSTANTLY railing against Squire and Epiphone sh!t?

Look at my signature - that's after the Mod Squad neutered my avatar without my consent.

Chinese sh!t is Chinese sh!t.

I don't care if "the price is right" or it's "just as good as...." or anything else.

95% of the guitar gear bought from China is a TOY first' date=' a luxury.

Few of those pieces are used for more than the occasional gig that pays any money.

That is a needless expenditure that is voluntarily enriching an economic enemy of the USA.

What does China sell that you absolutely, positively must have - and it's available nowhere else?

My point was, aren't your favorite Mom and Pop store selling the same Import Stuff that GC is?

Talk to Gibson. Fender is NOT the culprit - nowhere near what Gibson has done in the last 5-7 years.

Well' date=' it was problems with Fender that put my Local Music Store out of business. He had no problem with GC.

A few.

His USA lines outnumber his import crap by a huge margin - the ONLY store I know of now that can say that.

But he does support the Chinese with his Imports, right?

And be careful throwing around the "hate" word - a little too much of that sh!t going on from people who have

no fxcking clue what hate is' date=' nor have I EVER made a statement on this or any other forum to that effect.

As soon as California achieves the position of leadership, values, and economic prosperity they [i']believe[/i] they have, then any one of those 37 million can come on across the Colorado River and discuss it with me over a beer.

Since some estimates are that 1 in 5 adults there are illegal, make sure the one you send has his papers in order.

You know how Arizona is now after SB 1070!

:D/

Speaking of which, I hope you're prepared to prove you're not Canadian.

I'm calling bullsh!t on that one.

And lucky me - no matter what state I live in' date=' my income ensures that I'm in the "donor" column.

Any of you grossing under $50k owe me a nice [b']Thank You[/b] for helping you along all these years....

[biggrin]

Well, it's not Bull ****, Californians pay more into the Federal Tax System than Arizona. That's all there is to it. You owe a Big Thanks to all of those making over 50k in Cali, so Pucker Up.

They would have never done this if it weren't for Guitar Center.

To play the Devil's Advocate here' date=' why stop [i']there[/i]?

Maybe they should be selling below MAP.

MAYBE their prices should be driven down to wholesale - or less.

Sooner or later they will fold, and then those still standing can raise their prices back up - and sell more stuff.

Sorry Man.

You'll never be able to do more than put lipstick on that Guitar Center pig.
