Silenced Fred
Just a guy, a guitar, and a foot tapping, yet all of the power in the world Sounds way beyond their time, and the organ solo is quite possibly my favorite solo of all time Any songs that move you, from the time you first heard them, to now? Every time I hear either one of these songs, I'm flat out amazed.

vourot
I loved House of the rising sun when I was a kid. Can't stand it now. John Lee hooker has some great stuff. His album "Live at the Cafe au gogo " will inspire you to play blues.

His album "Live at the Cafe au gogo " will inspire you to play blues. For me, I grew up in the Guitar Hero era, and playing is seen as a competition. The first time I heard John Lee Hooker, Jack White, etc. I learned, or I guess realized, that you don't have to be the best, fastest, coolest guitarist to write songs, and play the hell out of the thing. They will always hold a special place in my heart. House of the Rising Sun, I think, is just such a cool song, it sounds so much ahead of the time period. Tman
I still refer to anything that sounds great (an idea or a song or anything) as a "Hey Jude". Knew it was a megahit the first time I heard it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDbHBuqJsTs

jaxson50
Can anyone name the most popular song ever recorded? That would be the one that has been covered by the most artist, and the one that spent more time on the charts and the most requested by listeners of radio, and the one that has had more air time world wide than any other song?
