Everybody is so damned concerned with not hurting anyones feelings or offending their beliefs, no matter how ridiculous, that we have turned into a society of little panzy whiny babies. Frankly, it disgusts me. At one point in time, if someone slapped you across the face, it was followed by a duel to defend your honor. Nowadays, somebody slaps you across the face, you run home, cry to mommy, call a lawyer, and sue them for emotional damages. It's pathetic. Any of us can join any forum dedicated to a certain brand name and send out repeated posts saying "Your [fill in product here] is pure garbage". He has no particular talent in persuading people. If by "fact" you mean "insulting devisive commentary", then you are correct. Personally, I've never seen him back ANYTHING with cold hard facts...not even a citation of some sort. But I dont doubt his knowledge. I doubt his motives. Also, your comment on censorship and political correctness is way off the mark as usual. This is a free forum owned by a company, not mandated or owned by a government agency. This is Epiphone's house, and if Greg or anyone else came into my house and started talking smack like that, I'd knock him to the ground before he finished his sentence. Believe it. I'm not whining, I'm standing up for myself and others and thinking about what newbies and even old members must think. I'm not running home to anyone. I'm confronting them. I'd stand up for my honor any time or place against these characters, but they hide behind the curtain of the internet, they are untouchable and use that to antagonize, insult, and harrass other people who want to carry on productive discussions. Also, I find no humor in Nelson's comments. There isn't meant to be any. Ask him, he'll tell you. This dude has a disorder, a compulsive aggressive disorder of some kind, I'm not a psychiatrist and don't have a license to diagnose anyone, but I can tell when someone isn't right and these dudes aren't right. They are predatory. You don't see that aparently and I don't know why; but that is your perspective and I can respect that. I don't see it your way and I'm not going to take their abuse. They'll get it right back dude, just like you said it used to be. No running and hiding, no sucking up to the bullies. I'll face them. And I bet they can't even hold a note to the average forum member. These dudes are sick man, and they need to know it. They need to get help instead of running away from their problems and continuing to compulsively engage in their unacceptable behavior. Who even wants to ask a stupid question with these predators hanging from the rafters? It is pitiful that this potentially great forum is corrupted by such indignance and aggression. An Epiphone forum, for me, was to discuss the products they sell, have sold, might sell... whatever. These two whiners about modern Epis make me laugh. Why do they care so much? Too much time on your hands guys? How about playing more guitar? I've gotten a lot of good tips and information on this forum, and manage to avoid the silly spats, but I wanted to chime in on this one. I bet these two goofs (gooves?) ... who is it, Nelson and Marx-something... I bet these ranty idiots are just two other guys we used to have to tolerate, but they're using different names now. I wonder... are they teenagers? (no offense to teenagers, but stuff like I'm reading here doesn't usually occupy grown-up people with more to do). Have fun everyone. There are still some useful and informative topics here, I'm sure. I'll keep reading. I hope your forum gets back to being the fun, easy-going thing it used to be. These guys might wear themselves out and move on to ranting about other pointless causes. If folks here are interested (pro and con) in Chinese Epis, then we'll just keep writing about them.... again, pros and cons. But I don't think we'll go away. That is exactly what they want and why they post as they do -- to rabble-rouse for kicks -- and why Nelson changed his username from his well known name used here previously. They both are knowledgeable but you have to wade through their spew to find anything helpful so as forum contributors, well.... Nothing on this forum is as serious as playing music (or shouldn't be to you). So, why not just sit back and laugh at their game/expense and needle them in return when/if you feel like it -- it's what I do. With a little sly technique, I have found that they will put out a lot of effort sometimes just to be so confrontational. And guess who's laughing last? They are getting away with this because we can't confront them face to face and settle the issue, one on one. As for quality, anyway, Gibson has fallen way behind from the old days and Heritage has taken up the banner and is producing way better guitars, looking at the same tradition. Also, other guitar makers are making way better guitars, like ESP. Even Peavey makes great guitars. But Epi's have an aura all their own that is Gibsonesque and affordable. I have heard many reports that the Epi's often play, feel, sound, and look better thant the Gibson counterpart. I have played Epi's that sound better than Gibson counterparts. Plus a lot of people like to hot rod their less expensive guitars and turn them into works of art that they are really proud of. As to ignoring them, I say keep up the posting and defend our points of view. Think about what newbies think when they come to this site or post on the site........ The atmosphere is contaminated by these crude, offensive, has beens, that drop from the rafters like rat s***, or blood sucking vampires; infectious and self serving. They are definitely not here on a positive note to help anyone out or try to give acceptable advice, they just harrass and antagonize people to their own obvious delight and will continue to do so. We need to get the word out to any newbies or passersby that we are on to them and let them see that there is a perspective here that we have regarding these ignorant fools. They know what they are doing is wrong and like some juvinile delinquents they return to their behavior compulsively, automatically, unscrupulously. The facts deny most of the stuff they say. Gibson is far from what it was and the prices are not consistent with the drop in quality. For the bang for your buck you can get a way better guitar for far less, and one that looks almost exactly like a Gibson. The copies are only slightly different, giving them legal rights to produce good looking guitars and taking the monopoloy of the generic shape away from Gibson and Fender. I think this is what really irritates these dudes. They think that everything has to be American made or it's junk, which we all know is not true. Guitar making has progressed immensely in the Far East and even in Mexico. There is a very long chain of history behind Spanish guitar making. These guys are antagonists that serve no useful purpose and are has beens who think they are something above the regular guy. They insult people by insinuating they don't have the money to buy quality guitars, even though they know a lot of people don't have a lot of money and that a lot of people are losing their jobs and others are fearing to lose their jobs and they are tight with their spending. It doesn't take a genius to know this, not to insinuate that these uneducated characters are geniuses by any means. They are crude, stupid, foolish, trouble makers that wouldn't last on the street for more than a couple days. They would be eliminated from the club, stopped at the door, or even worse if need be. They make use of this avenue of expression to engage in mentally disturbed behavior by insulting and harrassing innocent people. It's a psychological thing like a compulsive aggressive syndrome and I wouldn't be surprised if they have been prescribed medicine by their doctors to help control their inner compulsions but that they refuse to take the medicine. This is common among the crimminally insane. Some people have anti social disorders that control their behavior and cause them to aggressively attack innocent people that they see as easy prey. The proctective barrier of the internet gives them untouchability and they persevere in their aggressive behavior. The forum is not moderated and they exploit that weakness as a means to express their compulsive aggressive behavior and need to degrade people that they like to think are somehow below them. The fact of the matter is that they are the deviants. Despicable deviants engaging in corrupt behavior motivated by diagnosed or undiagnosed mental problems. They are not going to just go away but we need to keep the word out on them and let visitors and the ones they attack know that we are onto their foolish game. Of course we will ignore their posts, but we will see them and can reassure the posters that these jerks are jerks and not to pay attention to them but to sift their threads for the really useful info that they can get from those of us that have useful info to offer, instead of the sorry s*** these uneducated and mannerless fools try to inject. But, if you want to apply the "my house" analogy, I'll play along. This forum is epiphone's "house", not yours, mine, or Nelson's. So, in that respect, we are ALL guests. If I had a bunch of guests in my house, it would be my discretion as to who was and was not welcome. It would not be up to one guest to demand removal of another based on that persons' demeanor. It would be my decision and mine alone as to who to reprimand, or kick out. Personally, I would enjoy the company of a smartass moreso than that of someone who can't take an insult and swing back in kind. When my kids come to me crying about "he called me a name" I tell them to toughen up, it's only words. If they keep whining, they BOTH get time out. So if I was the mod here, I would either tell you all to deal with it, or suspend Nelson AND everyone in here crying about his insults. But that's just me...
