How about just making it an extra credit question and moving on? Here's one I hope will be gotten more quickly: We can never know about the days to come But we think about them anyway And I wonder if I'm really with you now Or just chasin' after some finer day

Guth
Yep, it's a good one alright. I used to drive over that pass quite a bit back when I lived in Texas. I always had Townes queued up in the tape deck (okay, it was a while ago) and would play that song as I crossed over the pass. Good memories Sorry for the interruption, now back to the regularly scheduled programming. Great thread concept by the way!

Ironically, I first heard it by Gillian Welch before I heard Townes' version! Gil and Dave do an amazing version of it too. Wish I could post it somehow. EDIT: Oh duh..... Hall
How about another verse, the group or the album title? provny
The fantastic Pale Blue Eyes - When I was a kid they used it as a theme song for some anti-drug school-tv series and it always had me shivering : Sometimes I feel so happy - Sometimes I feel so sad. . . Only several years later I came across the album and found out who was performing. First version of Pale Blue Eyes I heard was R.E.M.'s cover of it-- beautiful, somewhat eerie sounding. Also liked R.E.M.'s cover of Femme Fatale, and when I discovered they were both Velvet Underground songs, I began listening to them and really getting into their music, as well as reading about their Factory days and all of that.
