GuitarJunkie Posted September 4, 2008 Share Posted September 4, 2008 I hadn't been to my local porn shop (a.k.a. my Gibson Custom Dealer) lately so I thought I'd pay a visit today. They had some new '08 Standards and Traditionals, a Murphy aged 50th anniversary '58 Les Paul, and a few other goodies. They get new Gibsons in every day and had a couple still in the cardboard boxes. I was reading the model codes trying to see what was hiding inside when Matt asked if I wanted to see the new limited edition Canadian '58 VOS Les Paul. I felt a little tingle in my "swimsuit area" as I asked "wha...?". I was talking to the Gibson rep at Yorkville Sound (the canadian distributor for Gibson) a few months ago and apparently Yorkville is the largest distributor outside of the US, so every once in a while they get Gibson to do special runs for them. This newest one is a VOS '58 Les Paul in Mapleburst (how canadian, eh?). Compared to the other VOS's they had, the color is somewhere between Iced Tea and Faded Tobaccoburst. They made 75 and this one is number 74. And get this... in the compartment in the case is a bottle of maple syrup (I couldn't make that $hit up). The price of $3099 is only 40 bucks more than a regular '58 VOS. Enough yapping, here are some pics... By the way, here's a shot of their "wall 'o Paul"... That's a nice colour, but I'm not sure if it's giving me G.A.S. or making me hungry... Did you get a chance to play it, or any other historic? Honestly, I'm surprised you don't already have a historic, given the amount of guitars you own. AS90, Canada's the best...seriously! That purple color was supposedly stained by grape musk and it looked great. I think it would have been more Canadian if the maple syrup was actually used to stain the guitar.
