nikko18
as simple as that which do you pefer and why? i personally can't decide which i like i really like marshall's classic tone that you get when you play a les paul through it, its one of the main sounds you think of when think rock. but i also really like how vox sounds especially brian may's tone. it's one of those big choices when playing guitar vox or marshall les paul or strat. tonebias
I like both! Â Marshall (the marshall circuit design) tone is cool with a LP... I have a Marshall, well, a tweaked marshall. I love it.
Thundergod
Did you say VOX? Â Guess which I preffer... (some of the other VOX players should show up soon and tell you the benefits of playing a lester through a VOX, me? Im a little biased towards VOX to be objective). Â (now some Gibson-VOX porn: Vox AC30 custom classic with alnico blues and vox pathfinder) Â Â Â Hey dont blame me... I learned that from Tim! :)
ChanMan
I've always been a Marshall guy. Just can't seem to get away from that tone for rock! Â Â But now I use this, as I am more blues oriented: Â

surfpup
Why choose? Buy an 18 or 20 watt Marshall which uses EL84 tubes thus picking up some of the Vox characteristics. And it is usable at a reasonable volume unlike EL34, 6550, or KT66 tubed Marshalls. BTW, Nik at Ceriatone makes an 18 watt Marshall clone with a EF86 (Vox) channel and a Marshall channel - why choose indeed!

Thundergod
Isnt soldano designed over the marshall design? ...just asking... Dont know if the guy was asking about those brands or the amps made after them too. (soldano, mesa, matchless, bad cat... damnit, dont remember any fender stepsons right now...) Murph
I can't do the newer Chinese Vox/Marshall/Peavey stuff. If it's an English Marshall or Vox okay. Or an American Peavey. Â I've been using Mesa (Blue Angel) mostly for the last few years, a little Fender Prosonic from time to time. Â I like the Carvin Legacy also. Â Murph. RichCI
If you like the older Marshall amps, you should take a look at Germino. I haven't worked out a budget to buy one yet nor have test drove one, but they look very cool. I've been drooling over their Lead 55 LV.

Bradmeister
I like them both. I have an AC15TBX, but, alas, no Marshall. Marshall/Les Paul is one of the classic amp/guitar combinations. They are just meant to be together. Vox/Rickenbacker would be another one (Beatles). Hey, you can always do what Dean DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots does....use them both at the same time! HeadCase
Vox would be my 2nd choice. Owned several models but my AC30BM is amazing, great tones. (one of the loudest amps I've ever heard). Yeah, Brian May inspired my interest in Vox. First choice.... MARSHALL! I've owned / played many amps. Favorite by far is the Marshall Vintage Modern 50 watt head and matching cab. This amp gets the sound I've been looking for, the one that sounds like "me".
