DAS44
I've been listening to a lot of Jazz and Classical recently (the latter being a product of reading several books on the genre, which accounts for my Sibelius thread). Among my favorite newly discovered ones are. Charles Ives Symphony No. 2 mov 2. If you don't want to listen to the whole thing, listen to the last 20 seconds or so. I think it is one of the most brilliant, strange, endings ever, almost like Ives was laughing at us. One of my favorite dissonant composers, though I think Schoenberg takes that cake Rumored to have had an affair with Coco Chanel, Stravinsky! A member of another forum I'm active on claims to have actually composed, learned, and collaborated with him, but being the internet I take it with a healthy bit of skepticism Afro Blue! John Coltrane of course, fantastic piece :)

Tman5293
Not metal, bro. Try on some Ensiferum: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyvPe0uqjjY (It's a really good song, though--and only some cookie-monstering.) I'd like to know musical genre you would put Disturbed in. Because compared to what I listen to normally, Disturbed is some pretty heavy stuff. That song was really cool until about 3:42 when the "singer" decided it was time to destroy a fantastic song by trashing all over it with his growling bull$hit. I was really getting into it too.................................

saturn
I've been in a nostalgia phase lately. I was never a huge fan of many of the "hair" bands, but I did like RATT and KIX and I've been listening to their old stuff (like there's any new stuff ) recently. I used to see KIX when they were a local bar band, and I was there at a place called Hammerjack's when they recorded this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ED1weV4XTog

LarryUK
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lI7Q3dj5UtY I find myself listening to this at work. I bought the three disc set (Live dvd, live cd and studio cd). For the money it's great. I think a lot can be learnt from Foreigner. Whilst Mick Jones isn't the best guitarist going, they 'Entertain' and you can't knock his song writing. A good live band. But. I keep getting drawn to this after coming across them on You Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPaIXfVZjdY I love this song and 'Too many puppies'. Great musicians and an original sound.
