j45nick
2 Gibsons @ 39.7mm ( 1 9/16") 1 Gibson @ 42.9mm (1 11/16") 1 Gibson @ 43.7mm ( 1 23/32") 1 Martin @ 44.5mm ( 1 3/4") 1 Martin @ 42.9mm ( 1 11/16") 1 Prisloe (classical) @ 53mm ( 2 1/16") Needless to say, I don't normally switch between one of the narrow-nut Gibsons and the classical in the same playing session. I find that I can adapt to all of these. I think the neck sectional shape is more important than the actual nut width when it comes to comfort and playability. In addition, the string spacing up the neck is not always as different as the nut width differences suggest, as the nut width is only half the equation. The string spacing at the bridge is the other part of this. We tend to focus on nut width while ignoring the other variables.

sboiir
I prefer 1 5/8. but as said above string spacing isn't only about nut width. Still 1 5/8” is comfortable for me. That and a small body 12 is on the gas list
