RockabillyHell
Hey Rock - great tune ! Did you amp that J-15, or straight into the board? I mic'd it with a Shure super 55 pointed at the 12th fret. Thanks for listening too!

E-minor7
My 51 CF-100E recorded on 2 channels acoustically. Groovy set-up there - a little piece of the sky. The basic country-beat meets this oriental fellow in a quite illustrative way - is he on the Sgt. Pepper cover. .

fretplay
What about a happy song for change! I originally planned this for electric but then thought the acoustic pilot sounded better. If you like it I'll send you the music.

L5girl
duluthdan, Hello! This is L5girl. I love reading your posts- love the song you wrote for your neighbor. You might get a kick out of this story…My first husband was "Rex", who lived in a cabin just outside of town, (Aspen), back in the 1960's, with his dog. She mated with Rin Tin Tin, and had puppies one night , on top of Rex's sleeping bag in his cabin. There was a girl who lived in a train caboose nearby. Rex worked in the leather shop back then, when they tried to draft him-let's just say they weren't successful. Rex later had a room in the Jerome, the corner round turret room. Rex and I were married in Aspen, standing in the middle of a creek, by some local preacher who looked like a Boy Scout leader. We were camping out, and would go into town for breakfast, and lunch at "Pinocchio's. Rex said John Denver used to play at people's houses (friend's) ,back then. I always felt a total connection to Aspen, from the first time I ever saw it. I love the park, where we watched the hang gliders…Fast foreword to 19 years ago-I married my second husband, and of course, had to take him to Aspen! This guy was/is a musician, we have been a duo ever since. "Husband Bob" and I stayed just outside town, and went to the local music store to rent guitars. The owner was really nice, and gave us his CD-he's in a bluegrass band. A teacher in his store (jazz), jammed with Bob and I on "Wave" (bossa), and "Georgia", fingerstyle jazz), and invited us to sit in with him in Woody Creek, later that week. Of course, I had to go and pay my respects to Hunter Thompson! Bob and I sat in, and we had a good time. We also played at Toklat! We joined an Aspen wildlife organization, and visited their pet eagle "Belle". Bob and I moved to the Santa Cruz Mountains about 6 years ago. We love our redwood trees! I've never spent a winter in Aspen, but I'm sure it wreaks havoc on your acoustic guitars! That humidifier discussion on this forum is really important! Lot's of info there. Bob and I played all over L.A., as a duo or trio, and have gigged alot in the Santa Cruz, Bug Sur, and Los Gatos area. We play Jazz, Swing, Bossa Nova, Fingerstyle ,and originals. I miss Aspen, and think about it often. I couldn't believe the change it has gone through since Rex lived there! It is so expensive now, the locals told Bob and I they were moving out, down the valley-I think to Carbondale…? Thank goodness the Wheeler Opera House is still there! Bob and I will upload a picture of my Gibson "Iron Mountain" AJ Custom Limited Edition. It looks similar to yours-I have the Gibson Certificate which says it was " a limited run of only 30, built in 2008." Birdseye maple back and sides, Adirondack red spruce top, flamed birdseye maple neck, ebony fingerboard, open slotted bridge, and a custom mid 1960's neck. I found her in a local music store, in a guitar stand, in a glass case. A nice thin neck ,(good for my left hand), and a wonderful acoustic tone. This is the first Gibson acoustic I have owned. I gigged with a Martin all through the 60's and 70's with a pick up…I'm debating whether to keep her pristine, or install a pick up. Miking it on gigs is a hassle (for me). Bob and I use our custom Taylors for our acoustic sets. I will have to "baby" this Gibson-you know how you hate that first scratch on your guitar! Ha! The pick guard is the same "tiger flame" as your Legend. Mine just came with a nice "pro" Gibson hardshell black case. I hope you get this post-I would love to hear back from you! Say hi to Aspen for me! We will be back! Thank you, L5girl
duluthdan
Wow L5 ! You named half my favorite places ! Hunter is gone, but his table at Woody Creek Tavern is still there ! Installing a pickup into your Gibson will be a tough emotional decision - Next chance I get, a Trance Audio Mono is going in that Legend. I too live a bit "down-valley" from Aspen. Good lord you need a boat-load of money to live right in town! You probably at least were acquainted with Kurt, the Watchmaker? It is he that I wrote "50 Winters" for. See ya around the acoustic boards !
L5girl
duluthdan- Thanks for responding! You made my day! I'll check out the pick- up you mentioned-I want one that will take a minimum amount of "drilling" into my Gibson. Yes, Bob and I had lunch at the Woody Creek Tavern. Have you been up to Toklat? When Bob and I visit Aspen again, we will fly into Denver, and rent a car. We probably will come in the summer, or towards fall…Thanks again for your reply, and post another song when you can… L5girl
