  1. A couple thousand here in California. Increasing exponentially in the steep portion of the curve headed upwards. I am still going in to work (healthcare). Close to running out of PPE supplies. Staying at home and or keeping distance when venturing out is really key from what I can see. Hopefully the majority of folks will avoid contracting the virus until an effective vaccine is developed. Those who don't get the virus of course won't have immunity so a vaccine or effective treatment is key. Those that get COVID-19 in the US still have a good chance of beating it if not elderly or with preexisting illness. Stay safe everyone.
  2. Wife and I took a hike this morning before the rain (it's pouring now) and before any people would be ion the trail. We saw 4 or 5 and kept our distance and had an antiseptic spray impregnated scarf around our mouths. Then came home and we did some yard work (weeds have grown up all in the temporary driveway so we moved the driveway). Then we cooked all afternoon. Neither of us are drinking right now, amazing how much energy we have.
  3. He can and he did. I guess I won't be going to work. Outpatient services aren't essential. Going to be like Italy. Very serious.
  4. Funny but we ordered some frozen seafood from Costco with alaskan crab legs. Only thing available on their website. Grocery stores are shelf empty here.
  5. sitting at my desk with zero work to do. Eerie. No one is coming in. Things are changing exponentially very rapidly.
  6. You sir are my inspiration, thank you! Dammit I will keep it up. My main goal was to lose weight. I've lost 6 pounds in just over 2 weeks. Pretty hard to do at my age. Very best to you and to everyone on this forum. It is definitely a place of refuge for me, especially in this insane time. I honestly feel like we're in a sci fi movie.
  7. Things are pretty miserable today my wife's business looks like it will close indefinitely because she deals with kids and there are 2 cases of virus in schools there and kids are turning out to be carriers. I have no PACS at home so I have to go into work and be around coughing patients. I am trying like the dickens to reduce risk by washing hands etc. Picked a bad time to stop drinking which I may give up if I am weak. In all of this, I am trying to maintain a sense of humor. With that in mind, I give you these.

Did you need the kleenex after all?
  9. Fed just slashed interest rates to near zero. Refinancing just entered the realm of possibilities. Gotta make it through this though. Very dangerous virus. Supposed to hit older people (I just entered that category 3 weeks ago at 60) but some younger folks have died as well. Maybe they were all smokers but maybe some people are very susceptible to it and have an exaggerated reaction. Not to be a sky is falling kinda guy but healthy respect is needed for this virus. Killed 368 in Italy in one day. My wife's business is probably going to close for at least a month. President of our group called me today and said she'd rather I work from home (since I am now in the elevated risk category). Problem is I have no equipment at home, it's all been gone since the fire. Crazy times indeed.
  10. Telling he story in places like this certainly helps. One shows up in a bragging photo on a forum there's a chance of it being recognized. Maybe write to Reverb and eBay, social media etc. Kind of like missing children used to be on milk cartons. If it makes an appearance then someone will see it. Very sorry for your loss. Infuriating I'm sure.
  11. Love Warmoth's stuff. I had 3 that I lost 😒. I loved them.One was a 7/8's strat using quartersawn zebrawood. I miss it.
  12. Wait and see is usually a good plan!
  13. Not to disagree with Mr. Fineman but since you have a goldtop, and I assuming with the usual cream plastic, you should absolutely go for black. It'll look like a custom in my humble opinion! Even consider black speed knobs. 😄
  14. Stunning. Looks like a root beer river rapids. No I'm not high (or drunk).
  15. Yes very fluid situation but mostly bad news this week. 1 Conference cancelled yesterday and 2 more on the chopping block. I'm thinking quarantine and other measures being taken in Europe will only get worse over the next month, especially with an up to 14 day incubation period. I am so not a glass is half empty kind of guy just trying to be realistic.
  16. Dealing with the cancellation of most of the work conferences that I have something to do with this spring. Very disappointing. Never been to Ireland and really want to go.
  17. Day 8 and going strong! A march of a thousand miles begins with but a single step. or something along those lines...
  18. I saw the same add and think it is a very cool guitar. I played a MIM Cabronita a few years back and really loved it. If I wasn't in danger of having my cajones squished in a vice grip for getting another guitar, I would get one for sure. 😅

    Band life

I've been tolerating stupidity my whole life...unfortunately my own. I'm a bit jelly RCT in that I would love to be in a band again. Life has been disrupted over the last year but I would still love it. I, like you, would prefer key, bass, a drummer, and a singer to play with. Black Squirrel could get together again and maybe will happen. Evryone else plays in other bands making practice somewhat difficult. Best to you in your quest to find band happiness. At least you'll be playing it sounds like.
  20. Rabs love that guitar and I too loved admiring the builds through those threads
  21. I'm one of the guys that started young and have been playing for a long time (with a 20 year hiatus in there). I have found that performing with a band in front of people is the best way to get as good as you want to be fast. Reason being is that in order to perform up to whatever your standards are, you have to get ready which means practice both on your own and with the band. If you want to do it then you automatically have high enough standards to get it done. Like anything you want to accomplish, the best way to do well is to constantly or at least frequently be thinking about it (exposure and repetition).
