  1. JcV, I don't disagree. I think there are a few factors that go into whether someone would pay more: how much 'disposable income' you have; how much more you're willing to pay for getting closer to 'the hole grail' in terms of tone and looks, and; whether you plan on playing it or just 'collecting' it. There's a thread in The Lounge that touches on this question - "thoughts on value, utility and high-end guitars'. I'm perfectly happy with my SJ200. It was made just before Gibson got the idea to create "True Vintage" models when Bozeman was putting 100% of their effort into making the 'standard' models as good as they could. I don't think Gibson charges too much for any of their acoustics - from low end to high end. My only point was that producing a few really nice 'high end' guitars (appropriately priced to underscore the fact they are head and shoulders above the standards), that the unwashed masses, like myself, are more inclined to get a Gibson SJ200 than an Epiphone version. Or a Martin.
  2. Very 'art deco'. but I'd never pay the uPcharge. I'd guess Gibson knows few people would. This is just a marketing deal - there's always going to be a few folks who will pay for something like this. That said - I bet that advertising signature models like this has a positive push/pull effect on the sales of standard SJ200s.
  3. THAT is one gorgeous guitar! Iconic even! Put the case in a closet and forgetaboutit. Play that sucker for an 8 or 9 hour stretch and she'll be yours forever ! Congrats!
  4. Really enjoyed that Dusty, Thanks. Amazing vocal range - at 49:50. "Damned if you do, damned if you don't". Also, another YouTube video - her playing at Austin City Limits. More or less 'solo'. You can get a good feel for her talent - vocal and instrumental.
  5. When all you have is a hammer ... thanks for proving my point. Again.
  6. Voting Ended ... approximately 12 years ago.
  7. Congrats! There's nothing quite like getting a new guitar! More personal than a new car. More 'real'. You can go faster in a guitar than a car. Get more 'artistic'. Getting one that needs a couple of tweaks makes you feel like your bonding with it - better and quicker than by smelling the new nitro smell of a new one! I prefer 'previously owned' with a minor couple of dings. I don't feel like I'm 'bonding' when I put the first dent in a car or a guitar. Maybe "Bondo-ing" if it's a bad dent. She looks like a sweetie - bet she sounds like it too !
  8. Sarge, the difference between your comments and K'sD are obvious. Peace, Out.
  9. I don't know if it changed due to the PANDEMIC, but Austin a couple of years back boasted they had more live music than any other place in the US.
  10. OIive Garden needs to assign you a better Waitperson.
  11. Yah. "Country Music" Awards Shows ... make ME want to cry. All the Stetson 20x hats have disappeared, replaced by polyester knit watch caps. My disdain for Rascal Flats has been overtaken by FL/GA Line. I don't think any one of George Straits #1s would make the charts today. I remember decades ago seeing an old photo of Pat Boone. His type of mellow pop music which had been popular in the 50s had faded. His response was to get all costumed up like a Hippy-Rocker. Absolutely ludicrous. Now he's doing tv ads for bathtubs designed for seniors.
  12. Overdressed? Reminds me of a song. "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off.." Really great video...
  13. I do that too. I find everyone appreciates it ! Good Job ! Carry On !
  14. Can anyone help me find the value of a 1963 Hula Hoop made by Wham-O ? Not sure I want to buy it, unless the seller has underpriced it significantly and I can flip it. Thanks for doing all the work for me !
  15. Stein, you don't need to learn how to play the guitar again. It's like riding a bike and falling off a horse. (which may explain why my guitar teacher dropped me!) Welcome Back...
  16. Both have their place, depending on the song. The song will pick the guitar, I'm just in the middle ! I'm guessing differences in strings, picks, recording equipment and playing style contributed as much to the difference in tone as the guitars themselves. My ears enjoyed the second presentation overall though. Thanks, JcV
  17. Agree. A picture is worth a thousand words, but ....
  18. Good Job. Nothing I could suggest could possibly make it any better. Liked the imagery - her brown eyes were as blank as fresh hung drywall.
  19. When the CDC comes out with revised guidance - "Three Feet Social Distancing is OK" and everyone just shrugs it off and keeps following the Six Feet Guidelines.
  20. A couple of days after our Lab passed in January, I found a little toy Lab dog and toy Barbie's hairbrush on the floor in the kids playroom which had been 100% cleaned up for weeks without any of our grandkids visiting. No other toys - just those two. His 2 favorite things were eating and getting brushed. Our German Shepherd died unexpectedly 4 days after he did. There's suppose to be Five Stages of Grieving .
  21. Thank you for your service, Chief. Me - 4 years active duty, USN. I won't bite at the political bait.
  22. My favorite too. Don't forget to throw in some Irish Apples ! (Spuds)
  23. Was being courted to fly over to interview for a position on The Big Island. Pay was going to be comparable to avg. US pay for the position. The was when the internet was just starting up. It was unscientifically proven that the best gauge of how the Cost of Living varied location to location was the price of a Big Mac. I found what you did. Told the CFO I couldn't afford the pay cut. His response "But you'll get to live in a vacation paradise." I figured I didn't want to work for someone whose thought processes were so flawed, even if the pay were fair. Hope you get to go. I've heard Kaua'i (The Garden Isle - population 65,000) truly is a paradise.
  24. hey Sarge - Just saw over on the Lounge your announcement: Congrats on your NGD. Getting another Martin acoustic. Wow!
