  1. Really, it contains mineral oil, which has more in common with Vaseline than any other petroleum derivatives. And a lemon fragrance added just like in lemon Pledge. And don't jump to the imprecise conclusion that because something is a petroleum derivative that it means you're treating your wood with gasoline. Whitefang
  2. I think after six years most have well gotten over it. I never considered Prince as a guitar "God". But he was better than most people thought. Whitefang
  3. KISS can stay gone too, far as I'm concerned. And I wonder what a Johnny Depp/ Russell Crowe collaboration would be like. A lot of the guys on that list are rather long in the tooth. Or should I say dentures? And Neil Young is getting(or has gotten?) to the stage where he'll have to revise his song "Like A Hurricane" to a song called, "Like A Hurry Cane". Whitefang
  4. Yeah, I wonder about that TV license too. For a driver's license you need to pass a couple of tests before your first one is granted. Is that how it works for a TV license? You have to pass some kind of test to determine if you're watching television correctly? And what's the fine for watching the telly without a license? Does it involve doing time? And Sarge... Dua Lipa is a young British pop singer. She's in her late 20's I think. Whitefang
  5. "Everybody's Everything"--Santana Whitefang
  6. The two guys I know who have that model don't seem to have trouble finger picking on them. Whitefang
  7. So what? You some kind of squirrel racist? My street is full of black squirrels, grey Squirrels, orange-ish Squirrels, you name it. And none of them eat guitar nuts. Odd..... Since legend has it that a guitar's form was designed to resemble a woman's torso, that guitars would have nuts doesn't seem right somehow. Whitefang
  8. That's about how often I change strings. Not playing for a living They last me longer than a pro musician's might. Realistically, it's about once every two years. Whitefang
  9. I watch a lot of "retro" TV during the day. Evenings there's maybe a movie I like on TCM, or somewhere else. And on certain nights I'll tune in to a Red Wings game. If all else fails I have an extensive VHS/DVD library. And today I'll put in my copy of "Tora! Tora! Tora!" . Whitefang
  10. I use Old English lemon oil. Every string change. Whitefang
  11. Yeah. Doctors who practiced out of their homes. Like Donna Reed's TV husband(Carl Betz) And Marcus Welby. My dad used to go to a dentist in Detroit whose practice was set in the basement of his house. And doctors made house calls! When I had chicken pox I remember Dr. Mack coming to the house to check on me. It always struck me funny that his office was in a building on a corner next to the (still going) Solosy Funeral home. 12. "To Love Somebody"--The Bee Gees Whitefang
  13. Speaking of which.... You remember when patients in hospitals could smoke in their rooms. And their visitors could smoke with them. And on the topic.... You remember watching cigarette commercials on TV. And one of them claimed doctors preferred and recommended Camel cigarettes. Ah, yes. The GOOD old days. Whitefang
  14. For a second or so I thought he was trying to start a religious discussion. Whitefang
  15. "Jelly Roll Blues"--"Jelly Roll" Morton Whitefang
  16. This is a bit of sidetrack, but.... Sticking to one genre always proves to be folly as you learned it causes one to miss out on some pretty good tunes. Now, most(at the time) figured the group below was just AM fodder, but we saw them open for Cream on one of their "farewell" tour stops here, and live they were pretty good. Whitefang
  17. Or when you and your neighbors stood out on their porches one night to watch the ECHO satellite slowly float by. Looked like a slow moving star. Whitefang
  18. "Roll Away The Stone"--Mott The Hoople Whitefang
  19. In other sports news, U-M kicked the snot out of Purdue. No surprise there. Whitefang
  20. There's a story behind the following clip.... While driving to a local store about six years ago, and having my car's radio on the classical music station, they played the version on the clip. I thought it was a clever presentation and when I got to the store I stayed in the car to hear the end of the music and find out who it was. I found it was done by The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and iNet research informed me it was on an album called "This Is Christmas" and further search informed me the LP and CD were out of print. But lo and behold------- The following year we were at a local thrift shop and to kill time I flipped through the basket of used CDs they had on a counter. And THERE IT WAS! And the correct disc was in the jewel case(often it isn't in thrift shops). So I found the recording I was looking for, and it only cost me 80 cents! I thought each "day" of Christmas presented in a musical progression of style and construct was inspired. Whitefang
  21. You know you're getting old when you remember seeing all three of THESE live. On the same bill. Whitefang
  22. "Rollin' And Tumblin' "-- Canned Heat, Cream, Muddy Waters, Johnny Winter and plenty others. Whitefang
  23. I do this every time Christmas songs discussions come up. I agree with the McCartney Christmas tune being "cheesy". Never did like it. Same with Lennon's. Every time I hear it I sing along, only singing the lyrics to THIS I mean, the DO fit! Whitefang
  24. Charlie Parker was always fond of saying the best way to know a good musician is by how good he is playing the Blues. Me? Not listening to anything "right now". But last night kicked back with} Whitefang
  25. You assume we're all New Yorkers here? Whitefang
