  1. Whatcha takin' it for? My wife had appetite issues before her stroke, and when I finally got it through some people's thick skulls her appetite issues existed BEFORE her stroke, they tried a few different appetite stimulants. One was called Megase, which didn't work, and another was cannabis based Marinol. Which didn't work either. Whitefang
  2. And you possibly never saw this "classic" porn flick. Whitefang
  3. But really..... I find it hard to believe that Martin managed to stay in business since 1833 by being underhanded. And does anyone know just what KIND of spit Gibson mixes with their glue? And maybe that's why that one company calls their product GORILLA glue! Whitefang
  4. I thought the old Kalamazoo factory was now occupied by Heritage guitars, founded when Gibson moved it operations down to Nashville. And I believe Heritage still uses the old place. Run by those Gibson craftsmen who couldn't or wouldn't move to Nashville. But an interesting article. I've heard about Gibson's contributions to the WWII effort. The article also reminded me that there was once a company that built home appliances in nearby Belding, MI . It was once under a different name until a man named Frank Gibson, who I'm not sure was or was not related to anyone connected to Gibson guitars. But the other Gibson Co. built; And Whitefang
  5. "Venus In Blue Jeans"--Jimmy Clanton Whitefang
  6. And until then what? You go to a music shop or lovingly gaze at a D-28 in a catalog and sing this song? Whitefang
  7. I can't remember where, but I remember reading somewhere that all plant life "screams" in a way when picked of trimmed. I just wish I could remember where I read that and who wrote the article in which I read it. And I don't see what vegans would have against cigarettes or cigars since essentially they too are "plant based". Whitefang
  8. "Come Together"--The Beatles Whitefang
  9. Happy New Year back at everybody. And did you remember to put your money out? Whitefang
  10. Nope. HIDE glue. Called that because it's processed from animal hides. Not created by Dr. Jekyll's alter ego. Whitefang
  11. I still think at the time( 'round '68) California's tone was different from most others, who kept trying to sound like Hendrix. And although there is the fact that Hendrix and California did earlier meet and knew each other, Randy was content to have his own sound. And his use of sustain was far different from most contemporaries at the time. And seeing Spirit live a few times I can only say the only "device" I saw on stage was some kind of electronic component Randy used at the beginning and end of the tune "It's All The Same". Wouldn't it be funny if that "sound" they're seeking was done in the studio with a guitar that still had it's original pick-ups? What I remember most about going to concerts was that the "sound" the lead player's guitar made was FAR different from what we heard on the recordings. I NEVER heard Jimi's guitar sound the same live as it did on whichever song he played from a studio recording. Same with Steve Howe, Drew Abbott, Al Di Meola, McLaughlin, and yes, Randy California too. Whitefang
  12. Y'all have a fun and safe New Year's celebration. Me... I'm just hoping to stay awake long enough to see it in. But if any are going out anywhere, or doing a New Year's gig, drive careful home. Want you all to be able to come back here. And don't forget to put your money out. Whitefang
  13. In the "day" there were commercials that hawked some "candy for breakfast" cereal and showed a bowl of it smack dab in the middle of a fried egg, a couple of strips of bacon and a couple pieces of toast and the voice-over would say, "Part of this nutritious breakfast." It could be anything in the middle of all that, even a rusty radiator cap and it would STILL be..."Part of this nutritious breakfast." 🙄 Whitefang
  14. Hell you say....? You saying "Hello" to who WE call "Gibby" 'round here? Whitefang
  15. OK. So, wouldn't it be nice if Gibson built quality guitars and sold them at affordable prices? Whitefang
  16. The fact that Lucy's original color wasn't red is interesting. So there's a path for you to follow Duane. Try to find out how Gibson colored and finished their '60's SGs Go "old school" and try contacting reliable luthiers. Don't bother with You Tube. Whitefang
  17. Known as a PIKASSO guitar (yes, that's the correct spelling). Here's Metheny playing one Whitefang
  18. "Spirit In The Sky"--Norman Greenbaum Whitefang
  19. I can tell you that's a fact for sure. On Christmas Eve I drove from my daughter's home in Roseville, Mi to my home some 20+ miles away. The outside temp was 4 degreesF. That's without the wind chill figured in. It was that night the heater in my car decided to quit heating. It was fortunate we didn't get the snow that Buffalo got or I might not be here to type all this. But now, as I type this it's 49 degreesF in the Detroit area. But I still took my car in to get the heater fixed. With January and February to go I doubt this past bitter cold snap will be the last. Whitefang
  20. I worked at Cadillac's main assembly plant from '71 until it's closing in '88. I never knew the names of their colors, but there were some unique hues for sure. And some ugly ones too. Whitefang
  21. Yeah, I know. They should have been inducted early on IMHO. Whitefang
