Realizing that even 'A Grade' stuff can be junk (Fender content)

One thing about DSP that people struggle with in a DAW situation is gain staging. Letâs say your initial signal is hitting the AD converter too hard and causing it to clip. Itâs not going to sound pleasant like amp distortion and itâs only made uglier by additional distortion from the plugin/DSP. Too much gain at the front end In the tape days it was cool to push the meters into the red. In the digital world you need to understand the headroom of your system and stay below that threshold. as far as cables go there are a lot of gimmicks but your really arenât going to get better than a good Mogami. -

Be sure to wear proper eye protection -
They are just screwed down tightly so that they flex to conform to the curvature of the top. If there is a little gap somewhere itâs not a big deal

By that logic Iâd say DSP would be the top choice. The tone master isnât exactly cheap for what youâre getting. The Twin Reverb model is over $1K Iâll stick with my $600 used 65ri thanks!! Havenât needed to put a penny into maintenance and I canât imagine the construction or components are any better on a newer cheaper product -
I agree 100% That ding in the top would definitely affect the value though in this case while itâs still a newish guitar. In the future when this is a vintage oddball the ding will be less remarkable and weâll just think how rare and cool this model is

Wow cool find Rabs never seen one like that before

Plastic jacks arenât inherently bad. In an amp they are likely chosen to avoid ground loops rather than as a cost cutting measure. The pots were probably selected for PCB mounted usage which Iâm not really a fan of but thatâs what youâre gonna get in a modern amp you will never see Fender make a truly accurate reissue of one of their old classic amps for legal reasons. Those designs donât meet modern UL regulations etc -
Man this thread is full of GAS inducing pics. Nice guitars guys!!!

Ahh itâs cause thatâs hog and weâre used to seeing maple inside when itâs ply

Thereâs pretty much no way in hell this is a 17 year old fake. If it is itâs probably worth more than an original because it would have to be built by an extremely talented high end luthier. But that would be silly, itâs pretty safe to assume itâs real. Iâd shell out $3K for that

The 339 was available with two different neck profiles, basically â50sâ and â60sâ

New Project (Opinions needed Nitro over Poly)

This is what I was referring to when I said âhopefully a lot less than 1/8â. Not referring to structural integrity but aware that 1/8â would be an obscenely thick fretboard binding -

Itâs hopefully a lot less than 1/8â but keep in mind even 1/16â is massive when youâre trying to transition under a gloss finish -

Yeah the good thing is that it has that whole end of the neck pocket covered with binding which is overlapped by the heel. Working in that area is gonna be miserable and highly prone to wonkiness though⌠especially if youâre planning to use abrasives to do the whole thing Depending on which glue they used Iâd be highly tempted to just replace the whole fretboard -

Have you run your idea by anyone who you think understands the neck joint?
