Keith just doesn’t bring anything to the table these days. It would be a shame to remove Paul from bass just to shoehorn Keith in the mix.
-
That may complicate the grass part. Tell ya what though I’d love to go back to Boston and get some lobstah
-
You guys have girly hands get out and touch some grass
-
80 is almost dead, it’s old Paul, Ringo, and Mick could probably do something great. Keith is useless as a guitar player at this point maybe one of them has a kid or someone who can play a decent guitar
-
This is not a custom shop Gibson. If you repost your question in the acoustic section you’ll be more likely to find someone knowledgeable about this guitar

Ebony block SG custom in white with a brownface vibroverb… absolutely epic photo Don’t know a whole lot about Marshalls but it must be something nice
-
If it’s gotta be tortoiseshell I’d do a single ply. The 5 ply isn’t a great look on a Jr IMO. It would look best with single ply black i don’t think that’s a gold stoptail btw eraser

Reverb seems to suggest they were made about 1933-1943 I would measure the depth and the two widest parts of the body to look for a similarly sized guitar with cases available
-
So basically you guys all want Piezos

What's on your mind today? The Gibson edition

There are various methods but yes it will be sanded. Not with a piece of sandpaper in hand but with a block, beam, or jig -
Lol when I turned that video on I had to learn some of those licks. You can set playback to half speed on YouTube so that helps

Please help with string offset on new guitar (Gibson SG '61 VC)
Dub-T-123 replied to ikrechet's topic in Gibson USA
It’s pretty common to want slightly more space for the high e to avoid it slipping off the fret during a big vibrato The string spacing and bevel on the nut were both probably done intentionally to improve playability. -
The Kluson Deluxe tuners in the second pic are more similar to the vintage tuners. Gibson is currently using the Kluson deluxe style tuners on their reissues

What a beautiful guitar!! The speed knobs and wraparound look so right on a gold top. Be careful with that stand it could leave marks in the finish

If I were to try to be helpful and not just annoying my suggestion would be to make a rectangular template that eats up the two screw holes so you can just knock out that bit of work in one go. Then make a patch that first completely tightly with no gaps. Even with a perfect fitting patch you will never get rid of the lines under the lacquer. As you have it now it’s going to be really ugly -

Honestly I’m not trying to be a **** but sometimes I can’t help myself. I’ll try to be at least as nice as Duane was when commenting on Sgt Pepper’s cooking 👹 Duane… put down the putty… what you just did was supposed to be the easy part and it is an absolute hack job that you will not recover from later in the finishing process -

It doesn’t seem like you’ve thought it through but maybe you’ve got an idea I haven’t thought of. binding is normally installed where it sits slightly proud and is then scraped/sanded perfectly flush. You don’t have that option with the frets installed. The radius of the fretboard means you would theoretically be ripping the binding with one side having an angle to roughly match the fretboard radius. You’d have to rip that angle right up to the point where the binding wraps around the bottom of the fretboard, then leave that part wider and 90°, then back to the angle for the other side of the fretboard. If you somehow do that perfectly, it should be extremely difficult to get binding past the fret ends into the channel. So imo with all that considered it’s either a hack job or a refret unless you have a different idea. I guess theoretically you could notch the binding around each fret and scrape it between the frets. Probably still not a great outcome and probably still easier to refret -
That is a sweet looking LP!!!

No offense but I’m not optimistic about any of your plans for this one. You’re gearing up for a hack job -

If there was air in space to heat up I think the sun would qualify

You’re all a bunch of crotchety geezers don’t worry too much about it -
When I bought my first guitar from GC I had never considered to ask for a brand new one from the back or anything like that. I just got the one that was hanging on the wall even though it had a couple dings. It’s a great guitar and I probably wouldn’t have liked a different one as much. At this point there’s no way of knowing what condition it was in when I bought it and I never felt like I got ripped off or anything

Hopefully Sgt is back soon. I gotta admit I really like the look of that guitar. The split parallelograms are awesome and the piezo seems like it could be interesting. I notice there isn’t a toggle switch but you can’t see if there is a separate output on the side or something. Shame about the imperfections and price but it seems cool to me -

How are you planning on replacing the fretboard binding without removing the frets? Also keep in mind if you’re planning on using rattle cans they are going to be very impractical for spraying a burst
