  1. Jinder - truly am impressed with your work. Out of curiosity, when you play out, are you always solo - or do you have a band, or cohorts you play with? ...and when are you coming to Boston?!?
  2. I liked it, especially at about 2:15 on. Couldn't find any for sale anywhere though... except a purple one at GC for $7k.
  3. I've got a J45 as well ('18 Vintage) and experimented with a number of strings. My personal preference is PBs 13 - 54. Martins are my typical, but D'addario are fine. Tried the Martin retro but never bonded with them (they actually had to come off w/in a couple of days). Also 80/20s were good, going to give them another shot - but never had a 'wow' moment with them. One thing that i've never heard mentioned is the look of strings as well. I couldn't get used to the 'all nickle' look of the retros... wound strings should be brass, and the hi e and b should be nickle. I can live with the hi e and b being brass also, but don't like it. It doesn't change the sound, but does make an impression when I'm looking at it. It's also all personal preference. Regardless - you have an awesome guitar, whatever you put on it will be really good - so enjoy the journey of finding what you like.
  4. Good for you in being in the moving forward process - continued luck, and enjoy 'the one' !
  5. Miss your posts Sal - doesn't matter what's in your stable, looking forward to hearing from you. ...and a J45 - TV is a pretty nice choice 🙂
  6. Love these! Would love to have a V in my collection... really digging the burst, but also the white one... the two black ones are cool as well - freakin GAS, sweet stuff!
  7. Hershey (aka bean bean) Lucy (aka the goose) ...and me with the rest of the girls
  8. too many good comments to reply to them all, but I got some serious you-tube time in front of me. Mihcmac, thx for the demo - not sure where I'll fit these sounds into my playing, but I'm determined...probably figuring out how to incorporate the more subtle uses. The tremolo I'm using is on my SG... '68 or so... not a huge amount of play, but enough where I want to see what I can do. and yes, will use it sparingly when performing (thx TG, definitely worth noting).
  9. Nice Doug - That's awesome you and your wife are playing together!
  10. LOL - you just make me laugh! I don't even have any idea what it's used for, I think I too old for the deep dive bombing stuff, probably see if I can work it into some songs with the more subtle uses. Will give Chet a deeper look, but also very much dig Brian Setzer. Ok - Beck will be investigated 🙂 Barracuda - that could be wicked cool, not sure where they use the whammy in there, but think I just got my next project.
  11. I'm playing a new guitar with a whammy bar. Ive, never played with a whammy bar before - but figure it's there why not give it a go. After giving it a go, I'm pretty good at playing a chord and then going wah wah wah wah with it, but that's about it. Any recommendations on good songs to get used to using a whammy bar?
  12. Well, being a relative newbie, I'm sorry to see the reduced flow in traffic (learned a lot, and appreciate the group of folks with a shared interest... along with some some pretty cool / entertaining stories) - but do understand... things ebb and flow. I am routing for folks to become more engaged, but yeah not sure I predict that though.
  13. This is Pink Houses, pretty cool rhythm (before he went off the rails 🙂 not sure if this song got any playtime over there, but if you could sell it, seems would be fun to play... and he's playing a dove
  14. Quite a few options here, anything tickle your fancy? I vote Maggie Mae, Lola and Dead Flowers if the players would follow.
  15. Chet Atkins plays the Beatles... I believe it's a Gibson, no 100% sure, pretty sure... loved this.
  16. What are the 5 or so songs they gravitate towards... to understand what they like?
  17. I'm a huge fan of Billy Strings, but when Molly Tuttle plays IMO - she takes it to a whole 'nother level. Just plain smooooooooth through all that pickin'
