VBB
Hey, I just took off a set of strings that came with one of my guitars and it had different colored ball ends. I want to know so I can compare brands. Thanks, Val

Bruno690
D'Addario' date=' I think.[/quote'] You are correct. I think the color code is as follows: e - silver B - purple G - green D - Black A - Red E - Brass

AXE®
Yep. I only use them on one guitar. They seem to make it sound better to me.
L5Larry
I use them on all my solid and semi-hollow bodies, great strings. I switched over from GHS Boomers and never looked back.
Kimolas
I used to use Gibson Vintage Reissues (pure nickel), and I recently switched to D'Addario XLs. I've had this Gibson LP since January, and there wasn't a single scratch on the frets, but with the D'Addario strings there's a very noticeable amount of fret wear. This is probably due to them being nickel plated steel, instead of pure nickel. But mostly because these sound so darn good! I can't put my LP down! bobv
If it concerns you, D'Addario does make pure nickel wrap strings. Also they have half-sizes (starting with 0.0095 and 0.0105) that they call "plus". Not on the shelf at the big box guitar stores but you can order them.
NeoConMan
D'Addario is the brand with the colored ends. I used to use Gibson Vintage Reissues (pure nickel)' date=' and I recently switched to D'Addario XLs. [/quote']I did the opposite. I started using Gibson strings on all my Gibsons, but stuck with D'Addario on the others because they are so much cheaper. I like the high nickel content, and I have no idea why the sound is better but I feel it is. Great strings either way.
