PickitPaul
I am biased, i own a hummingbird, my only Gibson. Don't know about the round, i don't own any. They also used to make square shouldered J45. Anyone have both? What is your preference and why? Just because.
MapleManiac
Probably round shoulder because they seem tighter/more balanced. But there's a trade-off either way. Square shoulders have more of a grand piano sound.
Drinkofwater
Round! If my preference was a square shoulder i would be a martin user and not a j45 user.

jannusguy
round for me as well. it's mostly an aesthetic thing for me. my only martin is a slope shoulder also.
Acousticat
I prefer round-shoulders. With that said, I would never part with my square-shoulder Hummingbird. Sal

TWilson
I too prefer the look of a round or slope shouldered guitar.
Hoyt
Round shoulder for me, at least right now. I currently have a J45 VOS, Blues King and Crafters of Tennessee resonator -- all round shoulders. But, I've also had several Martin square shoulders that were nice. I like the round shoulders all else equal, especially for appearance. But, I wouldn't mind a Custom Dove I played a year or so ago which sounded exactly as a previous poster described -- like a "grand piano." I've played Hummingbirds I liked too. They're all good. larryp58
Man, I feel special! I have one of each! Each has it's on personality. I can't say that I prefer one over the other, but most of the time I find myself grabbing my Southern Jumbo.
NevadaPic
My SJ and AJ vote round! I have had square shoulder dreads in the past but 'had' is the operative word...

Johnt
Square J45 Norlin and Square SWD To me they sound better, grander!
Fleeter
Gotta be round.....smooth and warm tone and sustain like I've never heard from a square!!!!
6stringTom
I find round is more comfortable to play--probably not an issue with younger players, but as my body ages I have greater sensitivity to such issues.
davenumber2
For my money, there's nothing more beautiful than a round shoulder dread.

Taylor Player
Round... Make it a poll! Currently it looks like 20 to 2 in favor of round if you count the OP.
J45dale
I really like the round shoulder J45s, but I have been playing a Square Shoulder J45 for the last 35 years. Its a good guitar. My little LG-2 is round but all of my other makes are square. its all good, Dale.
