Guest
You may have seen my earlier post regarding whether or not to buy a Hummingbird or a Dove Well, I played both intensively and decided on the Dove What a special instrument I have hardly set it down since I bought it

Rambler
Btw, that's a tasty Gretsch Nashville, by the look of it, lurking in the corner. An old one, with the padded back? Had one, once upn a time....

G McBride
Nice Guitar. Looks like you have a decent choice to play now but I'll bet the Gibson will get most of your time for a while.
Guest
Yip .. the 'white grate thing' is a central heating radiator The Gretsch is a 1963 Chet Atkins (it wasn't re-named a Nashville until 1964 or so) Yip .. the Gibson will have my undivided (and justified) attention for some time. It is a superb guitar and I am delighted with it. What a great 'noise' ..... I am even beginning to think that I can still actually play a guitar ..... My first song with it? hmmmm?? I think it might just have been a little Buddy Holly number 'Its all right' or it could have been The Beatles 'Things we said today' It's hard to say, because I rattled out song after song without a single pause for about an hour :- :- :)

Matt the Cat
I love Doves. Soooooo nice. They just look like they're asking to be played hard. I'm a little green with envy! Enjoy the hell out of that guitar. Matt

Jinder
It looks to me like they've changed the design of the Dove pickguard so it is in line with the HB and '200 guards, in as much as the design is sealed into the guard rather than pressed/printed on...can anyone confirm this? It's a long-needed upgrade, IMHO.
Guest
The design on my guitar is 'proud' of the guard itself, if that is what you mean?
albertjohn
Congrats whis4ey. A real beauty. I trust it sounds as good as it looks.

DanvillRob
CONGRATZ!! As a 30 year Dove owner, you'll find it DOES like to be played hard, (but NOT put away wet), and will improve with age. I'm sure you made the right choice! BEAUTIFUL guitar! Bob
drathbun
Wow! Beautiful guitar! Congrats! Opening the case on a new guitar is seriously addictive stuff. That Gretsch is gorgeous too! :) =P~ Ummm.... is that a radiator next to those fine guitars??? Step away from the radiator!!! :D
sfden1
Ummm.... is that a radiator next to those fine guitars??? Step away from the radiator!!! That was my first thought too. And I would imagine it's getting a bit on the coolish side this time of year in Northern Ireland, no? That pic reminds me of when Taylorplayer posts that picture of his LG-1 with a roaring fire in the background that makes me want to scream "hey, get that guitar away from the fire", although I know it's not really as close as it looks Anyway, not to belabor the obvious too much, do find a bit less dry and warm spot for them before the heat comes on for the season. I'm sure you've thought of that already, so apologies, but wanted to mention it anyway. And CONGRATULATIONS . Dove's are terrific guitars. May you enjoy it for many years to come. fortyearspickn
If you ever get a hankerin' for a small tribute to The Dove - rent a copy of "Pure Country" with George Strait. He gave the Dove a good sized cameo. If that's not a mixed metaphore. Oh, and yes, I'm green with envy. Congrats!! jim
Pascal
From one Dove owner to another, enjoy! It is a great instrument, and I second Danvillrob when he mentions it getting better with age (mine is an 84).
Guest
Ummm.... is that a radiator next to those fine guitars??? Step away from the radiator!!! hehehe Firstly the radiator is not on at the moment .... won't be long though Secondly the guitars are only set there for the photograph (only one of them stays out on the guitar stand .. the others are in their cases ) and it will sit much farther away from the heat, honestly I am enjoying playing the Dove ..... what a great purchase =D> What strings do you guys who already own one, recommend? Pascal
That guitar would probably sound awsome with any strings you can throw at it.... :) But I'm happy with D'addario Lights....
DanvillRob
I'm using DR "RARE" Phosphor-Bronze (11's) right now, but about to put on D'Addario Phosphor-Bronze Lights on the '79 Dove. Bob
