NeoConMan
Same as being a responsible gun owner. I've left many places because I didn't like what I saw going on. Never pointed one at anybody, hope I never do. Blackie and Cruzn got it right too, just like my Dad told me as a boy.. Never start it, but if you can't avoid it, always finish it. Then LEAVE! milod
Dennis... Actually in my youth - which was before kick-punch arts were much known in the US - I had learned enough combat judo that I still didn't punch people after I got past age 12. <grin> I still think that in general, punching isn't terribly efficient compared to other sorts of technique. As for "karate" and such, actually it didn't teach running away, depending on the tactics taught at post-beginner levels in a given "school." Problem with running away is that it's potentially more dangerous than fighting. Rule on running is: Never run from, run to a tactically stronger position. Funakoshi tells, for example, of an assault on him after WWII by a guy less than half his age. A single strike ended it even as the assailant prepared his attack. That's an example of the Shotokan concept of "no first strike." m
