Dang that is a tough one! All of the Elitist's I've played have been a joy and I feel blessed to have owned them. If I had to choose one "best" all around I guess it would be the Byrdland. With wound strings I can get jazzy, play the blues and rock out at moderate levels. Wait, maybe it's the Sheraton, it does all of that too. Hmm, so does the Les Paul Standard plus at concert levels! ER em.... I dunno....

You guys have some awesome guitars. Lovely pic with, I presume, your daughter Schtang. Could you give an approx dollar value to buy one in Australia.

The Casino, Sheraton and Byrdland would be a tough choice to make, but one I would love to have to make. Jerry, the 12 string is beyond my capabilities but what a beautiful guitar, as all yours are, and I did ask what the best is you have played. I have seen your "family" in pics you have posted, and drool at them.

And Lerxst, fair call .... it was a dare which I took up, and thank you for your input.

Thanks to all for any input into this, it gives me something to think about.

Second-Hand for an Epi Sherraton II in Australia with case about $780-$820. Brand new for the Sherrie II with case $1190 from Billy Hyde Music or Gallens Guitar (these are in Sydney).

Thanx Schtang. Gallens have a shop up here called Musician Pro Shop. I bought my Vox amp from them. On the website they seem to be part of the Gallens group of shops. At the time I was so caught up looking at amps I didn't take any notice of the $'s for the Epis.

It's probably not a great question for me, since I've only had 2 Epi's, an unknown flat-top bought in a pawn shop and a Casino. So hands down the best is the Casino.

If it makes any difference, plugged in the Casino is definitely on a par with my classic Gibson ES-330. The Casino has a bit brighter tone (but the pups are higher on the Casino and the 330 has plastic or nylon saddles) but the Gibby sounds better as an acoustic guitar.

But the Casino is one of the best guitars I have ever owned.

Well, since you already have a solid body in your pierced SG, a Casino or a Dot would definitely be an interesting variation to look into. Haven't tried a Casino but I liked my Dot so much that I eventually upgraded to the Elitist version which I really like.

For me, I would have to say it was a '01 Chinese built Les Paul. I picked it up from MF as a refurb and dropped in a set of Gibson 490/498 pups.

I dont what it was about that guitar but it just seemed so solid and was a great player. Still kick myself for selling it.

I have to say the Dot I have. Nothing special about it, but the pickups seem to be matched as far as the readings and output go. Everyone who plays it says the same. They can't believe a Dot sounds and feels that good. I have been playing my American Strat less and less since acquiring the Dot. As far as versatility it's hard to beat.

I don't know if my WildKat is my favorite, but I gravitate to it the most. I've had a Sheri' II, have a DOT, LP, Riv' a couple of Epi' acoustic's, and I still grab the Kat seven out of ten time's probably. Maybe when I get a Casino that might change, for now I guess the Kat is my fav after all. :-s
