layboomo
Well only 2 guitars JP and a JR....so far.... but I think I've been through 10 Valve Jr amps...still have 3 of those and had an absolute blast modding, learning and even selling them. flyingfrets
Yup. This forum started my quest for an "iced tea" honeyburst flametop LP which I satisfied this January, but still got major GAS for a 335/Dot and an Explorer with a black PG (I can thank RotcanX for that one....but I don't have the patience to make my own PG like he did!). But the wife says if I buy anymore guitars, I better start looking for a marital counseling forum too... Hmm, tough choice...
TWANG
the epi forums got me going on the valve juniors.. four so far.. and the les paul studio.. and it definately is a GOOD thing for epi and us! TWANG

Svet
Well, let me tell you my story. Flashback to March of 06, I owned two guitars and had hardly played for the previous eight years plus. I had sold off an SRV Strat, a Tele and my Sheraton. My Black Strat Plus and a Washburn acoustic was all that remained. A friend of mine at work plays the guitar and we started talking about music and instruments. He told me to bring in my Strat and he would go over it and set it up. I said, what the hey, I never use it anyway and I won't miss it for a few days. When I got it back it was so sweet to play! My passion for playing was resurrected and I thought man, I would love a better acoustic, another Tele and an ES 335 type. So I went online to visit Epiphones Website and I learned all about the Elitist series. I had also ordered a Tele Deluxe and a Martin 000-28 through Sam Ash because of their no payment no interest for a year financing. I called my local dealer and they actually had a Sheraton Elitist for 1199! I was in love all over again! Three new guitars and the Epiphone forum to feed the fire! Forward two years and I now have 26 guitars and 6 amps! So ya, this forum has GASed me big time! I've been off the GAS four months now and I'm feeling much better! Wish me luck! I'm now engaged and getting married next June. We are closing on a house in a week or so and my monthly bills are about to go up exponentially. My rent for the last 10 years has been so cheap due to roommates and the mortgage will be a whole new ballgame! At least I am set for life with my toys! snookelputz
I'm applauding the sheer awesomeness of buying 5 Epi-products in 5 weeks! You assume that my date of joining the forum to start posting has something to do with how long I've been monitoring the posts? If so, your premise is in error. I buy and sell between 10-20 guitars a year, and have done for about, oh, 6 or 8 years. I've monitored this forum for nearly that long, and - as I said - the topics and comments posted here directly, and greatly, influenced my buying pattern. If you ever need further personal information, its better to ask than to make an assumption. I will tell the truth, refuse to answer or tell you a lie depending on how I feel at the moment. That way you have at least 33 1/3% chance of getting it right.
eor
gas brought me here, but didn't make me buy anything. yet. i'd like you to, though. an sunburst elitist dot, which i'm having trouble finding locally, or on ebay, for that matter.
Muskank Sally
Guitar Acquisition Syndrome is one of the symptoms. To Jones is another. That's when the Gas gets so large that you can't sleep. You must immediately give in to the purchase at hand. that's the only way to beat a 'Gas-Jones'.
fleetlin49
I came to this website for info on modding my Valve Jr. I started watching all the posts, especially the ones about the Les Paul Jr. and became very intriuged. Then one of the members posted a pic of a sunburst '57RI Jr. and I fell in love! I started watching ebay like a hawk for one of these for about a month. I saw the prices they were going for there at the time and didn't really want to pay that plus shipping for one. Then one day I wondered into a music store I don't frequent to often because its on the other side of town. I walk in and what do I spot out of the corner of my eye? I spot that damned '57RI Jr. hanging on the wall in all its sunburst glory! And for a much cheaper price than on ebay. I picked it up and it was love at first strum! The neck felt just right in my hand and it had the most beautiful acoustic resonance from the body that I never wanted to leave her side. But alas, I didn't have the money at the time and came in for biweekly visits for about 3 weeks. By this time I was MADLY in love with this guitar and had to by her before some one came and swooped her off her feet before I could. So I said to the salesman, "Mr. Salesman, I want to put this guitar on layaway." and you know what he said? He said, "You got it pal." I finished paying her off about two months ago and and will be getting her back this week from a little nip and tuck work. Mainly a new Lindy Fralin P-90 but also a new rewire job and setup. I can't wait!!! So yeah, to say the least this forum definately gave me the GAS and a purchase happened because of it!

neptune2000
I have been wanting a Gibson SG for a long time. When I decided to finally buy another guitar and realized it was too $$$, I joined the forum looking for info on Epiphones. Since joining and being inundated with photos and info, I'm finding myself lusting after LPs (which I was never that interested in). Sheratons too. I won't have the money for a month or two, but now I'm starting to rethink the SG, and trying to figure out (rationalize is more like it) if I can score two guitars, along with a buying trip to guitarfetish. It's like I'm getting addicted to all the guitar porn here.
