Elitist Wildkat in tobacco burst. All Gibson electronics, bone or graphite nut. Less then 2,000.00 bucks.

Make it Epi, & I'll do whatever I have to to get one. Also, if I ever have a child, which I hope I don't, but if I do, I'll name them "Epiphone". Promise. I'd be willing to trade you the hypothetical child for the guitar, if that sweetens the deal at all? No? Well, how about my soul then? Oh, c'mon! Build me an Elitist Wildkat!!!!! Pleeeeease!!

I would probably buy an Epi Robot Les Paul, if they were under a grand. Then again, I can probably wait 6 more months and get a Gibby for that price on green tag clearance at GC, they can't seem to get rid of them at the current 1400 or so they want for them...

Other than that? Bring back the Baritone Les Pauls, in some decent figured maple finishes and with standard LP controls.

Also wouldn't mind seeing an epi version of the BFG Les Pauls... Those seemed cool, just not for almost 1000 bucks. I'd pay 550 for an epi all day though... 650 with Gibson pickups.

And 3/4" maple caps on the Les Paul models that should have them, with no price increase. Come on, if Agile can do it for 400 bucks...

You know what' date=' Epi....Just bring back the "Elitist" line, in tact! Maybe add the original Epi solid bodies, as

addtional "Elitist" models. Abandoning the "Elitist" line was a collassal mistake...IMHO. ;>b

As the subject line implies, "In your dreams". Gibson is counting on us to buy Gibsons instead of the Chinese Epiphones. And they would be right if WE weren't also affected by the tanking economy. If we aren't satisfied with a Chinese Epiphone for $500, will we shell out $3,000 for a Gibson? I don't think so.

If Epiphone dumped their entire Chinese line of guitars and restarted the Elitist line, that would be fine by me. It seems to have been a roll of the dice. Their targeted market is young players who want inexpensive guitars. Us aging baby boomers are just too small of a market for a $1500 guitar. That's why I went out on a limb and got my Elitist Sheraton and Elitist Casino last year. I had a feeling that they were too good to be true (or continued).

Besides ... with the recent jump in guitar prices across the board, what do you imagine the Elitists would be going for today? If they were $1500 last year ... $1750 to $2000 easy!

They've left the one remaining Casino alone ... so far! If the line had continued I really think we would have seen price hikes similar to the rest of the line. They're asking $800 for a Les Paul Custom!!!

To put it in perspective, I recently had cause to ask a major dealer the current list price on Rickenbacker 330s and Rickenbacker 360s. Would you believe that those retail at $1500 and $1900 respectively, including Rickenbacker hard-shell-case and shipping?

Looking at Sweetwater's site provides some interesting comparisons:

Fender Jazzmaster Classic Player's Special (Made in Mexico, with gig-bag): $1,119.99

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/JazzCP3SB/

Gibson SG Standard (ebony): $1650

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SGSEBCH/

So, do Rickenbacker have some altruistic pricing policy going on, or are Fender and Gibbyphone just a bit greedy?

Wrong. Rickenbacker increased their prices of 330's to 1999$ and the 360's to 2500$. They're no 'bargain' anymore I'm afraid!

And to be honest I don't like the people on the Rics forum... very touchy people with too many guitars for my taste...

Well go tell that to the guy at Fuller's Vintage Guitars in Houston. I asked him last night, and those were the prices he quoted me ($1500 and $1900).

Well, what happens, with certain sellers (especially one on E-bay) is, that because he/they have them "in stock," they sell at near "list," because some people will pay the price, so they don't have to endure the 12-18 month waiting period that is often the case, with Rickenbacker models that aren't "in stock," unless you get lucky and order a model that's in production at the time, and will be shipped (almost) immediately. But Rickenbacker has always been like that (waiting times, and all). I waited about 9 months in 1968 to get my first 360-12 string. And, dealers at that time, weren't discounting much at all.

So...???

Rickenbacker prices haven't changed much over here yet but the waiting time for a new one is as long as a piece of string (and sometimes longer).

I've seen 8-9/10 conditions being sold over here for anything as low as £800 and new ones on ebay seling for near £2000.

You can get most guitars at a reasonable price if you look long enough if you don't want it brand new or in 10/10 collector's condition.
