Epi1
Epiphone is considering the release of a 50th anniversary "1960" Les Paul Standard later this year. In 1960, there were 3 different neck profiles noted as version-1, version-2 and version-3. For more in-depth information if needed, visit here: Gibson Custom 1960 LP. We welcome your input. Thanks for participating, Epiphone
Fantana
I agree completely with Peter, this kind of research should be the norm for guitar companies. If this is the start of a new trend by Epiphone, then they have my praise!
motowntom
How about a price decrease? .........please. Cheers
kevin kyle
great idea i prefer the softer D profile, not quite the slim taper but not the big D baseball bat either...
deflepfan
Epi1, It's good to hear from you as it has been a long time! And I hope that the 'considering' turns into 'releasing"! Voted slim tapered. Thanks, Sheila
TWANG
I voted for the 1960 neck. It was difficult, as I do believe the neck is a tone producer. I would tend to want the 50s' rounded for that. but then, I love the slim taper. my hands won. my ears will sulk, but only briefly, as the left thought 50s and the right said ha! man epi has some nice lps out now.. sdjjadk
I voted Slim Taper. I played a Les Paul Slim Taper at a local music store and the sales guy had to just about pry it out of my hands! Bender 4 Life
I play, and have played so many diff. neck profiles that it just doesn't matter, I do Rythym, leads and solos, but I don't "shred solo". I went for the '50s neck because thats what I "cut my teeth" on, and a neck that fills my hand still feels good to me.
Guest icantbuyafender
Im not a big guy, but the 50's neck gets my vote! Theres nothing like it. The necks on my melody maker and on my epi 56 GT speak volumes to me. chunky like a dot neck or early g400, yet elegant on the grip.
sexygibson
60's profile for me. I just can't stand anything much bigger. I've owned several Gibby L.P. Studio models and didn't prefer any of them over my Epis with smaller neck profiles.
lowb5str
I own a late '60's original slim taper, and my arthritic hands find it comforting. I can still play it with ease, smoothness, and speed. Thanks for making it an option in the poll. ...And if you EVER reissue the Bird's Eye Maple top, I will beat a path to my nearest FLGS Epiphone outlet with cash or card in hand immediately. Just sayin'.
animalfarm
Slim Neck Profile. I primarily play an Epi LP CLassic, and an Epi LP Studio - 70% of the time, I grab the Classic because of the NECK (Slimmer profile). I do it without consciously thinking, it just feels better to my hand. I GLADLY play the Studio, but the Slim Neck keeps appearing in my hands when I'm not looking... I'm pleased to see the request for input - it's not often a Manufacturer will ask the "End Users" of it's product for opinions before releasing a new item. Marketing-wise, it's a WIN/WIN situation for all parties. As End users, "we" are amazed to be asked by Administration WHAT we actually WANT in a guitar. This is a big positive, and word of mouth will reach far beyond the 7,000+ "Registered Users" of this forum, building confidence and Brand loyalty in EPIPHONE products. (Of course, the end users will be watching to see what Epi actually DOES release!). For EPI, getting involved with users at a "grass-roots" level builds Brand Loyalty, confidence that the Manufacturer will actually listen and perhaps cares, and makes "us" feel like perhaps we're not just buying guitars/amps from a "Faceless Corporate Giant". I hope EPI listens, I love mine - and to think that MY input might actually be wanted only enhances my own satisfaction with my decision to buy EPI! ;)
animalfarm
For shame - 469 views and ony 28 votes. Should have a couple of hundred. Not often we get asked for input from Epi1. Advertising angle - "The Epi Forum members were polled, and they told us what they wanted, blah, blah, blah..." "At EPIPHONE, WE listen because YOU play 'em"... You get the idea. VOTE, folks!!!! Call it a 'TEST RUN", let's see what Epiphone does with this poll of "What we want". Don't have to comment if you don't want to, just VOTE! :-

gl297
Is 1960 the very first year of the slim-taper neck? if so, I'd go with that for the anniversary guitar.

Hungrycat
Keep in mind you can read a thread more than once, but you can only vote once. The same member reading the thread multiple times will increase the 'Views' count, but the 'Votes' count will remain the same. Hence, the Response Percentage will be skewed downwards. Simple statistics. Now here's random charts:
