rocketman
He certainly looks like he knows what he's doing. I love his advice about being careful around holes and cavities. It's your guitar and as long as you love the result then we'll love it too! Can't wait to see it finished...
WahKeen
Why would anyone be "scared shitless" to do this? He's having a professional luthier who builds guitars do it for him. I guess having a mechanic replace an alternator is also a scary thought? Because it's not something everyone has done to their guitars? Alternator on a car? If you own one, you'll cross that road eventually. Probably that's why.
deepblue
Again guys, thanks for the support. Would I myself ever attempt this job? Not in a million years. Even if I had a frame by frame video showing me how to do it I would never attempt it. Doing these mods takes skill. As Tim stated, Fred is a professional luthier, not a "Handy man" with some chisels and sandpaper.
Jantha
I wouldn't be scared if I found the right person.. and it sounds like you did. I can't wait to see the result. Lemon drop/burst is a stunning finish. It's going to look awesome
pippy
I, too, am looking forward to the finished result. Good stuff. I love 'Lemon-drop' finish. (although I think you should change your mind and have it re-finished as a 'Brockburst' replica.............................LOL!)
freak show
I really like what you're doing with it, and I prefer the lemon drop finish over the cherry. I'd just be scared shitless to do it. Why would anyone be "scared shitless" to do this? He's having a professional luthier who builds guitars do it for him.I guess having a mechanic replace an alternator is also a scary thought? Terrible analogy. Actually, this situation is comparable to an already beautiful girl deciding to get some cosmetic surgery: It could make her even more beautiful, but there's always a chance it won't work out as planned... If it were my "girlfriend", I'd be a bit scared too. But, it does look like this guy is doing great work, and I wish you the best of luck, deepblue. Lemon Drop is one of my favorite finishes, and with that figuring, I'm sure it will look stunning!

I guess having a mechanic replace an alternator is also a scary thought? Wow, ok, I guess it got taken out of context. I MEANT I'D be scared to do it myself. But having a pro do it is no sweat at all. FFS... Somehow I overlooked the part that he found a pro to do the job, I thought he was doing it himself. LarryUK
This is the best thread on here for a while. I can't wait to see the finish. My heart was pounding looking at the pics. Am I going kinky? I watched a porn film last night and thought to myself 'F**k me that bed looks comfy'. Am I getting old?

I was watching an old rerun of the Partridge Family. In my youth I thought Susan Dey (Lori) was hot. Now at 47 my mind wanders towards Shirley Jones! (Mrs. Partridge) lol. My son's (28/30) can't understand why I don't like Britney and the young ones etc. I'd rather have Rachael Hunter. I'd feel like a kiddie fiddler being with a girl as young as my sons. retrosurfer1959
Great looking guitar I like it allot better and now it's your custom guitar - I'm amazed at how many people were shocked and almost offended by the refinish. Dang people it's a guitar not the Mona Lisa some person painted it the first time so why not? The worse that could happen is it would look bad and oh well refinish it again until you love it. They really are just a stained or painted piece of wood it's not like they grew naturally in these colors. Current guitars will never be worth big dollars there's way to many made now so why not mod and refinish even if everything went wrong you can always refinish gain or even paint. And no opinion on young women anymore my wife doesn't let me date anyway.

Freddy Gabrsek
Hi Folks, I'm the luthier that did this job for deepblue. It's now done. Here's 2 minutes of eye candy covering the whole process.

Thundergod
Looks like you got it all solved Blue, the guitar will surely end up as a great looking intrument. Can't wait to see it finished (I'm still going through page 2 so guys don't spoil it for me in case it's already finished on page 4 ) As much as I like the original finish on your guitar and (I think) I said something like "Are you nuts? you are gonna spoil a perfectly good guitar!", that particular finish made the guitar look like a standard (know what I mean? ) I'm sure the new finish will make her look great. Gotta note she also looks great all stripped down, that's a nice top
