j45nick
Ross Teigen, the luthier who works on my guitars, is a superb craftsman who designs and builds acoustic and electric guitars that some might call "whimsical". He's also a great fan of smallbody Gibsons, especially the L-OO. Here's his interpretation of the modern L-OO. The construction details--wood, bracing, etc--are exactly like a 1930's L-OO, since he's also a restoration specialist who is fanatical about details. He also happens to be one of the few people who can accurately replicate the Gibson sunburst. There's just something that's a little different about this one. Can't quite put my finger on it........ E-minor7
Sorry Nick. I'll have to report him to the authorities. Hehe - not the first time I see the pear-shape idea on a western. In several ways it looks okay, even intriguing to me. R.T. seems to have the touch and must be the right guy to ask a classic Q. 'bout what I believe many of us would like to know : How much and what kind of sound in the shoulders of acoustics ? On the correct day, I got a birthday greeting from the AGF! Nothing from Gibson where I think I am a substantial shareholder!!!! BluesKing777. ParlourMan
Just shows you there's only so far you can toy with a decent design before it all goes south.... Doesn't work for me at all, I'm sure he's a skilled fella etc... but I really and truly hate it, like BBG said it looks like it's melted.
zombywoof
Ya know, even though it offends my traditionalist sensibilities, I do kinda like it. Maybe in some instances I would rather see a new take on a some magical old guitar than yet another attempt to recreate it.
Elmer
never change a winning horse....guitar shape is good as it is, you have a few different styles and models, if you go too far away from those existing syles, models...FAIL. The design must be VERY VERY strong if you want to show a total new model. This is a fail in my humble opinion.

onewilyfool
He should call it the "Salvador Dali" guitar.......
j45nick
It looks to me like something some creature should have been playing in the famous bar/club scene in Star Wars. Now THAT would have been a real Gibson homage.....
Guest J-Doug
I'm sure he's an excellent craftsman. It seems well made. But design wise, it really does not appeal to me at all. I am quite the traditionalist though.
vacamartin
I'm a big fan of 00 and L-00 size...but this one is not in any class of body size ever created. Hope it stays at one of a kind.

I suspect the total body volume is pretty similar to that of an L-OO, perhaps with a bit more bass focus. I've got a bit more of an open mind than most here. The guitar makes me laugh, and I'd love to hear it. But no, I'm not going to buy it. I'm a bit more of a traditionalist, except for my forays into weirdness such as the one below, which is unusual, but perfect for its intended purpose. "Choose the right weapon for the job at hand." jt
I really like the Savador Dali-like L-00! My only concern would be that the waist may be too narrow to play seated. Otherwise, I think it is very cool and would love to own one. I also plead guilty to corrupting Nick and encouraging him to buy that carbon fiber beauty. Just hang a strap on it and play comfortably in any position. I like the little smile on the builder's face, which tells me there's a bit of humor afoot in this project. He's just enjoying his craft. Good job!

But, I'm too old to stand up to play and a strap looks ridiculous on a guitar when I play it sitting down. Better to commission a Salvador Dali L-00 with a larer upper bout!
