  1. Jay Ferguson (keywords vocals for Jo Jo Gunne and Spirit) Take me down Easy My favorite Mountain, Mississippi Queen
  2. I have noticed that a few new Epiphone owners experiencing fret buzz have backed off the nut tension a little to help relieve the buzz. Then after the neck settles are able to lower the bridge a bit. Because I live on an Island almost all of my guitars are purchased online. A few of my new Epiphones came with the nut completely backed off from Musicians Friend., Sweetwater claims to setup before shipping, perhaps they over tightened the neck. Epiphone necks are typically not as stable as Gibsons and can go back forth while stabilizing in their new environment. God luck and stay well...

My AVT275 and AVT150H had built in stereo effects the effects loop had a mono out and a R & L return but I only used the loop for compression. I loved the way the built in chorus and delay sounded in stereo, but most of the time I just placed a mic in-between the speakers.
  4. My 2011 Epi 61 SG Special's frets go well into the binding, which was typical on the old G400 style Epiphones. Most of your photos show look like the frets are extending far enough over the binding but the dressed angle, to me, looks like it may be too great where the top of the angle is over the fingerboard. If you can see it, the angle of my fret ends are more vertical starting at the edge of the fingerboard. If any are like zigzag's below, you may want to contact Gibson support..

Are you planning to use it as a stereo effect? I am really liking my new analog chorus run through my effects loop. As a single clock type it hasn't killed a battery yet, but my new analog delay eats them after just a few hours..
  6. I hear mining as well.... But my 99 published book says mountain... US accent mining sounds closer..
  7. P90's sound incredible, specially on a Jr style guitar with a wraparound bridge that seems to intensify the way a P90 resonates and not mention that LP DC's just seem to be more fun to play.. Enjoy....
  8. There are a few 'un-boxing' episodes on youtube for new 2020 Epiphones mentioning fret buzz, sometimes after lowering the bridge to a good level, frets needing to be dressed after the 5th fret going higher, in addition some were sent back to the seller. Also the nut pinching the strings is not unusual, many new guitars require a very small amount of careful slot widening, but not deepening.
  9. So do I, but my 2011 SG Special reissue is still one of my favorites, it plays like a dream, hope you enjoy yours..
  10. I would check the pawnshops in your area and possibly leave them with as much information as possible.
  11. The BluesHawk uses a similar system. The "Dummy Coil" in the back of the guitar between the pickups provide hum cancelling when single pickups are selected. The Gibson BluesHawk has Blues 90 pickups and the Epiphone Blueshawk has standard P90's, both of these have their neck pickup in opposite polarity (the bobbin and magnets are reversed) so when selector switch is in mid position the opposite polarity of the pickups provide hum canceling. Most other manufacturers are using this reverse polarity setup with P90's but Gibson doesn't normally do this, but if you use a Strat on position 2 or 4 this is what it is doing with the center pickup in reverse polarity. You can test your P90s simply by placing a compass next to them, if opposite the compass will swing 180° between pickups.. The ILITCH system looks like they have taken it it bit farther than Gibson did, maybe they got right.. Cavity Noise Canceling Systems CVNCS JR Gibson Les Paul style guitars that have a back control cavity and one or two single coil pickups can be retrofitted with a CVNCS JR The CVNCS JR replaces the control cavity cover and has been designed to fit the original hole pattern, making the installation 100% non invasive. Note: All single coil pickups MUST be same polarity same winding direction (No RWRP) Cavity Noise Cancelling Systems CVNCS IN Inside cavity air coil. ••• Looks interesting for cleaning noise from P90s, may be a bit of work ti install..•••
  12. A lot depends on if you are going for the Maestro look or a tremolo that works better. The Stetsbar Stop Tail uses the stock Gibson mounts and will not damage your guitar. In addition the Stetsbar is a very smooth finely machined tremolo with a very large range in both directions. They do cost about double what the Les Trem does. The bridge and stop tail move together as one unit, no dragging the strings over the bridge making it smooth as silk and its very adjustable.. The Gibson Vibrolas do look great..
  13. Oh my, she kind of leaves you speechless..
  14. You are absolutely right, looks like I mis read it, just goes to show you I shouldn't post before my first cup of coffee... After I made my original statement I went back to re-read the article and the link mysteriously went dead..
  15. Starting to focus on recovering and modernizing my old tunes, some better left forgotten, but a few may be worth the trouble.. Found an old notebook full of things I penned in another lifetime.. In the meantime I can keep playing a few I learned along the way, like right now playing Crazy Train...
  16. If we were to make a list of all the turn offs that can happen playing with other people most musicians would never get out of the practice room. There is something that happens when strange people get together and something clicks and endorphins kick in. Then the only thing that seems to matter is reaching for Grail. This initial feeling gets amplified when listeners react. As the audience gets larger the addiction gets stronger as you watch how all the faces respond as you transform into your stage persona. For me this is what makes the problems disappear. I continue with jam sessions, meeting new problems. Not having to work I play to keep my hands working and because every once in a while I get that old feeling again.. 🙂

    TV?

I have been watching Hunter with Al Pacino, interesting drama twist on Nazi hunters during the time in the mid 70's when Operation Paperclip was declassified. Be warned that they don't pull any punches exhibiting the war crimes..
