  1. Here is another one (2002) with the carving. I believe that the carving is OEM and is rare. This should be a question for Gibson, I think. That case is awesome.
  2. In general, I really like almost all bursts ... EXCEPT for green and blue bursts. My brother just bought a Gibson "Green Ocean Burst" Les Paul Classic (a Sweetwater exclusive). I dunno, maybe it will grow on me when I see it in person ... Don't tell my brother what I said ...
  3. A dead spot on a new Les Paul Standard? I wouldn't stand having any dead spots, if it were me (and I realize it isn't). However, I use the entire fretboard where I know most people don't. I had one guitar that brand new out of the box had a dead spot in the upper frets on the high-E string which is grade-A fretboard real estate for me. I was able to cure it with some fret and action tweaking. But it was an acceptable pain only because it was a very limited-availability guitar that I would not have been able to just send back and get another one. So these things can be fixed. As for the pickups, you may want to just rip on that guitar for awhile before you tear them out. For me, I am a huge fan of Gibson pups in general. Also, I would like to add that your guitar is fabulously beautiful, and -- I am sure -- sings like the angels.
  4. Yeah, he was on one of those reality shows, and I was surprised how modestly he lives.
  5. I thought that speech was very good and compelling.
  6. I would also say the body looks off to me. Close, but something not quite right ...
  7. Very pretty guitar. I remember those late 1970s Ibanez and Yamahas which were -- across the board -- very good guitars. This is back when Strats were very questionable, and Gibson upper models were good, but much more expensive than the competition.
  8. Yeah, but there are all kinds of stories of stolen guitars. Jimmy Page's 'Black Beauty', Peter Frampton's famous '54 "Phenix", Joe Perry had a '59 LP Standard stolen in the '70s that ended up with Slash in the '90s who after knowing it was Perry's still took 10 years to give it back to him, Jeff Beck's '60 LP standard purchased from (pre-Cheap Trick) Rick Nielsen in the late 1960s, Paul McCartney's first Hofner bass, Alex Lifeson had a bunch of guitars stolen from him, Metallica's Kirk Hammett has a '59 LP Standard that he never has leave his side he is so scared of it walking off, Aerosmith in the early '70s were using a theater as a rehearsal space and had every piece of their gear stolen including all Perry's early Marshalls along with a ton of guitars (separate from the aforementioned '59 LP Std), etc. And these are just some of the more famous ones ... there are so many more.
  9. GuitarFetish.com has very good quality products at super cheap prices. If you want something good and cheap, here you go: https://www.guitarfetish.com/Fits-Stratreg_c_579.html
  10. I really liked the Beck, Bogert, Appice album. I did not realize that there was a subsequent live album, too. I need to check that out. RIP, sir.
  11. Wow - beautiful guitar. I love the top with that beautiful mix of flame and plain. How do you like it? Were there any issues/problems?
  12. I tend to think there is more than a noticeable difference between Kalamazoo-made and Nashville-made instruments, and the Nashville stuff is definitely not junk.
  13. I think the iconic joke has run its course ...
  14. Nice case. Any chance of removing the ESP logo and stenciling on a "Gibson USA" on there? That is what I would do. Or does that offend the Gibson purists by putting a Gibson logo on a non-Gibson case? But ... you don't want to offend the ESP purists by putting that Gibson guitar in that ESP case, though, either. Oh, the dilemma ... LOL, LOL (sorry, I break myself up)
  15. And I am not disagreeing with you either as there are (obviously) numerous examples of highly flamed old LPs. This pic is an example of the type of guitar finish that I was referring to in my mind's eye when I wrote the previous post, where it is not an over-the-top flametop. BTW, you have a beautiful guitar (I bet you never have heard that before ... LOL). This pic is a '59.
  16. This is just my personal opinion ... The heavily flamed guitars certainly look beautiful but they can be a little much. The mixture of "some" flame and some plain top looks nice and balanced, and not like an overt furniture project -- and, to me, are more reminiscent of those older Les Pauls. I really like the top of the OPs new guitar. Just an opinion, not a hater ...
  17. Cool guitar. I am surprised the Paw Shop did not invest the small amount to make it workable again so that they could sell at a higher price point. Good for you, though. Great color!
  18. I have been playing a lot more in the back half of 2020. I am resolving to increase from that throughout 2021.
  19. Outstanding!!! Post pics when you get it, please!
  20. I assume you asked Gibson this, and they did not help you?
  21. Isn't that akin to calling up Microsoft and asking for the Windows source code? Clearly, there must be some IP concerns there.
  22. Tied to their "Gear" credit card, GC also does 5% rewards back + 36/48-month 0% financing which is also pretty generous.
