Sir Ricardo
. I saw photos of a "Gibson" guitar for sale, but there appear to be some odd things about it. For one, the seller says there is no serial # on the back of the headstock. AND, the inside "Gibson" sticker does not show a model # or serial #. What do you think, is it real? cheers - Richard ========================================

Yorick
I concur. Someone wants it to be taken for one though--went to some trouble to source those tuners (which are on some Bozeman reissues). Is there no back seam?
Yorick
Wait--it could be an SJ 150.
Jalex
The sunburst looks a bit fishy to me.
ParlourMan
Could be badly lit photos, but the burst looks a bit 'epiphone' to me. Label also looks not quite there.... can't say with any certainty but I would stay on the side of caution and leave this one alone.
bobouz
Wait--it could be an SJ 150. A center brace would be there. Fake, fake, fake.
EuroAussie
Usually the burst is a dead give away. Nobody, even the other makers can match a Gibson burst. Fakey, fake, fake.
davenumber2
Looks like an Epiphone parading as a Gibson. Stay away.
ksdaddy
If the guy at Bozeman ever applied a sunburst like that, I'd wear out three pairs of kneecaps kicking him in the a$$.
BigKahune
. Several red flags there . . . fake. .

ponty
This is the freak right here. Scroll down for more photos. The Fishman electrics will also be made by a scam artist. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2013-chinese-guitar-J200VS-FISHMAN-pickup-Acoustic-Electric-Guitar-Sunset-color/741434484.html

Or the one next door. This stuff makes me sick and angry. When those of us here have to look carefully at details to determine if it is real or fake, what chance does some guy off the street have of not being ripped off, unless he is buying new from an authorized dealer, or very vintage? Mojorule
The pickguard is genuine, though, I'd warrant. Only Gibson makes J200 guards that rub away like that. This is what happens to the guards that people replace with the rubberized ones...
frenchie1281734003
Total fake! No interior centre line seam! The fingerboard inlays are the wrong shape! The soundhole rosette is the wrong combinations of black and white! Detail on the label is wrong! The back wood looks like Mahogany! It`s not even close to being legit. Steer well clear. Steve. jchabalk
+1 on the fake. it's better than a lot of them though. the fingerboard inlays are off too. they did what looks like an acceptable job on the moustache bridge which you don't see much on the fakes. J-200 Koa
It's as real as an import, make believe, imposter, non-authentic, "Gibson-esque" in appearance guitar can be. What's the issue? P.S.: I think the cat in the photo smells something fishy is going on.

Mojorule
I think the manufacturers use the cat to produce bearclaw markings at an extra cost.
